Hi This is my first posting on this list as I have only just found a Gresham connection with Ontario. I am looking for any connection to Longford Gresham and his wife Mary Wallace who settled in London or Sarnia when they arrived from Ireland. Any information on this couple would be appreciated we are looking at a time frame of early 20th century as they had two children in N Ireland in the 1910's. I know when they died and where they are buried it is the life in the middle I am interested in. In fact any information on any Gresham will help as I am trying to link together all the various branches from the family who originated in Lincolnshire in the 1600's. Pam
Wishing each and everyone a very safe and happy holiday...Canada is a wonderful Country, and we should all be very proud of that.... Barb.

Hello Gordon I would love to get a hold of my MP's and write to them but I'm not a very good letter writer, would it be possible for you to send a template for the letter and then I can just fill in the parts that would be referring to me and or my MPP's If you are to busy I will certainly under stand. We all agree that something must be done to prevent a similar result for the Census of 2011. Bill S-18 provided for a review of the administration and operation of the 'informed consent' provision that we were forced to accept without opposition in order to regain public access to Historic Census records. We are hoping that pressure from genealogists and historians might prompt an early review and ask that you write your parliamentary representatives seeking their support for this to happen. On 16 July 2007, representatives of the Canadian Historical Association, along with myself will be meeting with Anil Arora, Director General, Census Program Branch, Census Manager of Statistics Canada. Representatives of the Canadian Sociological Association and the Canadian Political Science Association may be in attendance as well. The meeting will be held in Ottawa, and the subject matter of the meeting will be the 'informed consent' question imposed on us by Bill S-18. Hi Bonnie: If your mother was born in 1927 then she will appear on the 1931 Canada Census which will be released after 92 years or 2023. As for being online... we wonder what that might mean by 2023. The 1911 Census became available, after much lobbying and persuading, in 2003. Cheers! Hi Bonnie. Your mother would first appear in the 1931 Census and each Census up to 1996. National Censuses were conducted every ten years on years ending in '1' and Censuses for the Prairie provinces were held every ten years on years ending in '6'. From 1956 the National Census was conducted every five years on years ending in '1' and '6'. Gordon A. Tonya, you used another persons subject of Stover and therefore I asked if you were research Stover because if you were I would have directed your email to the person who originally requested info on Stover. It would be appropriate when requesting other listers to do some searching for you to put the correct name in the subject line, not only when asking for help, but also for others who may be familiar with, and have details on, the name you are searching. You asked for a search of the 1851 Census for a John Lipsey/Lipsett who was born in Ireland. There were three who fit the basic info that you gave: John Lipsey Ontario County, Whitby born abt 1827 Ireland John Lipsie Renfrew County, Brougham born abt 1802 " John Lepsitt Peel County, Chinguacousy born abt 1782 " .........
