    3. When in doubt - go to the source. The Glossary on the LDS site for (of) states: circa, Swedish ((ca.) (Latin)) Swedish word for "about, approximately" There are two entries for the word "of" - neither of which apply. However when I searched with brackets I got the above answer. Cheers! 3. >From the Family Search website - "The Pedigree Resource File is a lineage-linked database of records submitted by individuals through FamilySearch Internet". Since the information you have seems to relate to a marriage, I would say that "of" means that Mono Twp was either the birthplace or residence of John James CLARK when he married, according to the person who submitted the information. Note that the marriage date is "abt" which might mean that they guessed at a marriage date based on the age of the oldest child, and the birth date is "abt" which means they might have assumed he was 25 when he was married and just subtracted to get a birth year of 1849. The names and address of the two people who submitted this information is available - you either contact them to find the source of their information, or use it as a starting point to find the source yourself. Since all of their information is "abt" is unlikely that they have seen the original record. 3. Hi Lynda -- I believe it means that an exact place of birth (or death or whatever) isn't known but the person lived there at some point, so, it's a point of reference. A search of the records for that place may or may not have been done. For instance, a birth date may have been taken from family notes or a Bible with no place given, but the person in question may have lived there and had children, so the "of" was put in so indicate that the birth place isn't a certainty. Cheers -- Judy LyndaMN@aol.com wrote: I wonder if anyone can help me figure out what the "(of))" in the following LDS record means ...
