I suspect that your message didn't work because you were trying to send in HTML format and when you did it through Netscape it went plain text. This might help http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/listadmins/plaintext.html If you use Outlook, you can set up your address book so that all messages to the Rootsweb mailing lists are sent plain text, while all your other ones go HTML. Looking for the death registation for a Samuel HITCHCOCK, b. ca 1819 died prior to the 1911 census census. In the 1901 census he was living with his daughter, Aradine / Ada IRWIN in Raleigh twp., Kent County. The above daughter, a widow in 1901, emigrated to the USA in 1905 & I do not think Samuel went with her. So Samuel died between 1901 & 1911 There is also a Samuel N. Hitchock, s/o the above but I know he died 1911 & is buried in Merlin cemetery. I am trying to locate Samuel Sr's burial place. He could also be in the Merlin Cemetery but not shown on his wife's stone.

It is a very basic map, and can help with understanding our ancestors' travel routes, and neighbouring counties that relatives may be found in. I have used a similar one, but this is clearer and more basis. I've scanned it, so anyone interested in getting it just email me and I'll email the scan to you. Patience though, as I only have dial-up. Nancy

That means they are being stripped either at your end (by your ISP, or your email program) or by the Rootsweb mailserver. If it is the RW mailserver it will be because your email program has sent them in a format not allowed by mailman (the RW mailserver) I am not clear what you mean by using "netscape and not sympatico" as your email which sent this message to the list is sympatico.ca But you should check to see if you can figure out what went wrong with the first 3, as you are bound to experience this again if you do things the same way Lorine List Admin -- Lorine McGinnis Schulze * Olive Tree Genealogy (Ships Passenger Lists) http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ * Naturalization Records http://naturalizationrecords.com/ * Images of Ships Lists http://www.rootsweb.com/~ote/ships/ otg@csolve.net or olivetreegenealogy@gmail.com

    2. Marg McFarlane
    3. Hi: I found no death reg in Kent 1901 - 1911 for a Sam Hitchcock, other than the one for Samuel N. I searched by Sam* with no surname, by Hit* and no given name, and by Hic*, as well as by Sam* Hitchcock, all searches in Kent, no results. I also searched deaths anywhere in Ontario and got no hits. Perhaps someone else will have better luck. When I searched the Ontario Gene Society's cemetery Index at: http://ogs.andornot.com/CemeteryIndex.aspx I typed in Hitchcock, no first names, and Kent for the County, and got 2 listings for given name of Samuel, among other Hitchcock's: Last Name Given Names Stone Ref Death Date County Township Cemetery (ID) Hitchcock Samuel H322 * Kent Raleigh Merlin Cemetery (2499) Hitchcock Samuel N. H322 * Kent Raleigh Merlin Cemetery (2499) However, this may also mean that on Samuel N's headstone, it may say Samuel N, son of Samuel, not that his the elder Samuel is buried in the cemetery. You can contact the Kent branch: http://www.ogskent.on.ca/ The main page of the Kent Branch, OGS, says "The Chatham-Kent Library maintains a history and newspaper file section just outside our door." Perhaps you could email the Library asking if there is a name index to see if Sam Sr is listed, or also ask for an obit lookup for Sam N, giving his date of death, and perhaps that obit would tell you if Sam Sr was deceased. On this page: http://ogskent.on.ca/Research1.htm It says: Q.: Can I find newspaper records/obits and burial locations? A.: We encourage people to come in the morning and use that time to do their newspaper research in the Public Library (also on the Second Floor). They have an extensive card file index of births, marriages, anniversaries, deaths, etc. from the 1840's until about the 1990's;; and the newspapers themselves are on microfilm there. We have transcriptions of Kent Cemeteries [done circa 1980]. The Chatham Library: http://www.chatham-kent.ca/community+services/library/branches/Chatham+Library.htm Contact: CKlibrary@chatham-kent.ca I once emailed the main library above and asked for an obit. They sent it via email at no cost. There were a number of Ada Irwin's on the 1910 US census but perhaps this is yours: 1910 United States Federal Census > Michigan > Wayne > Detroit Ward 18 > District 272, sheet 2B, May 7, 1910: Ada Irwin Head Widow 53 Emig 1905 Frank W Irwin Son Single 23 Clerk in glass factory Emig 1905 Lulu M Irwin Dau Single 21 Waitress in a hotel Emig 1905 John W Irwin Son Single 19 Stenographer in glass factory Emig 1905 Blanche M Hitchcock Niece Single 12 Emig 1905 Earl K Dawson Nephew Single 16 E\mig 1905 Marg in Sunny Alberta Robert Neil wrote:
