I'm just wondering if there's a document somewhere that might show details of my Great Grandparents arrival in Ontario. They came from England through Ellis Island in NYC then travelled on up to Ontario, specifically Barrie. Any ideas? Thanks! Are there any people on this list with name connections to the property that today is Arrowhead Provincial Park. Just outside of Huntsville in the Muskoka District. Thanks Scott shipwreck@surenet.net
HI I am hoping that this is not at all off topic as most of the ancestors that live in the Muskoka District would have had to of gone up this route. I am looking for history on the Muskoka Road from Bracebridge to Almaguin. I believe that from Bracebridge to Huntsville it was called the Old Ferguson Road...part of which lies just south of Huntsville today going through Allensville. The highway before the overpass was complete over the Vernon Lake Narrows in 1959, went through the Town of Huntsville. And for some reason I believe that it turned into the Old North Road and crossed the Big East River heading to Melissa. The highway alignment pretty well destroyed Melissa and Emsdale. Was this highway also called the Old Ferguson Highway. If anyone can help me with the history of this road section it would be very appreciated. Scott shipwreck@surenet.net

What is the preferred abbreviation for township - Tp or Twp? Is "Con" acceptable for concession? I generally spell out all terms but sometimes like to save space. Thanks, Jennifer
In both the research I've done, at least in Wellington County, and in letters I've received, a piece of land has always been referred to as Lot 14 Con 3 (or vice versa). G'morning Catherine: You might have some luck checking obituaries for descendants and then looking at www.canada411.com For instance James Randall Moyle died in Rockcliffe Park area of Ottawa, Carleton Co., ON in 1926 at age 55. Currently there are 5 persons with surname Moyle listed in that vicinity. His daughter Dorothy married a man by the name of Thomas E. Griffis. There are 31 listings for that surname; you might find a familiar first name there as well. Time to start sending Christmas cards Catherine - you may find a complete family for a few stamps. Cheers! Hi Marg, Thank you for this death search. I'm going to look into getting the cemetery microfilms sent to my local archives and search for them there. He might have died after 1934. Hi Dottie, Although the second William you listed had a very close birthdate, the William I'm looking for is alive in the 1911 census, married to Mary Helen McDonald. Thanks for your help though. I think William died after 1934. Thanks Doreen, Thank you for the info. I'm diciphering another relative's info, and have confusion on dates, deaths and burial locations. I'm currently mapping out the area to do a visit next spring to straighten things up. I'm missing several people in this line, so a cem search should clear it up. Thanks again. Nancy
Hi Gail, Thank you so much for the William Young death lookup. It appears it isn't him, and Jackie's death info on Mary Helen shows he must have died after 1926. I'll have to look into the cemetery info again. Thank again for your help. Nancy
Hi Jackie, This is her, but I've just found out that William hadn't died in 1914. Her parents & son's info is correct, so now I will need to look into William's death. for a date after 1926. The 1901 census info was closer than the 1911---which I've found in the past. Thanks for the lookup and clearing this up.
