Hey Steve: Can you let me know who is it, and the citation so I can take a look please. The K.C. could refer to "King's Counsel" if he was appointed during the pre Victorian period. It does not apply to "Knights of Columbus" as they were not founded until the 1880's. Cheers! Brian
The Royal College of Surgeons of England uses the designation M.R.C.S. It was in existence well before 1860. Perhaps your groom had some connection? I found the following initials after the groom's name in a 1860 Ontario marriage - M.R.C.S.L.A.K.C. - the first initial could have been an "H". This was shown after the groom's name much like M.D. (Medical Doctor) or J.P. (Justice of the Peace) would be designated. Anyone know what this means? I've tried searching it on the web and have come up with nothing. Family name was GORING and there is a UK Goring family who were Baronets - does it have any connection to a title? Thanks. Thanks Karen for the spouse's name. That is the same information we had from 2 family bibles. I think that information was submitted to Genealogy.com a few years ago, by a relative, now deceased. Does anyone know how to get information from Ancestry's "One World Tree" I made a couple of cold contacts to Wisconsin and Texas, both distant relatives, and found new information on my Campbell tree. One of my "new cousins" mentioned a Thomas Campbell, son of Donald Campbell & Jane Russell, being on there with a spouse, which I've been trying to find. Apparently this Thomas, born 1866, left Ontario for Texas, then ended up in Minnesota, and I can't get any solid leads, but a spouse's name might help. Any suggestions? Nancy

I find genealogy like a crossword puzzle, you put it down for awhile and then pick it up and everything seems to fall into place. I went through some old emails from Cathy Wagner that date back to 1999 and along with that and finding a book online at "Our Roots" called "Adelaide Township, a history" I came across a bonanza of information. I was actually looking for info on my George Burdick instead ran across 3 pages of info including 2 pictures of his wife's family Lydia Stevens on page 376, 377 and 378. The following is what I found to make me believe this is my family: "Lydia (1827), fourth child of Samuel and Ruth, married George Burdick, who was born in the United States. They were in Delaware Township in 1852, with a son, Charles, aged three. George was listed as a blacksmith. In 1871, George was a blacksmith at Keyser. This occupation appears to have moved the family throughout the local area." Every thing fits into place, dates, religion, occupation and area. What I would like to know is: 1. Is anybody on the list researching the Samuel (1786-1860) and Ruth nee Granger ((1799-1876) Stevens/Stephens line in Adelaide Township, they had 12 children of which the 4th was my Lydia. 2. I would also like someone to check the 1861 census for me for Lydia and George, I know according to a death notice that when she died she was survived by 4 sons (names not mentioned), however I know that one was John Burdick who I descend from, so what I would like to find out if Charles who was 3 in 1852 was with John in the 1861 census and another son named Samuel Westerly, not sure of the name of the other son.
