    2. You are right Muriel. Wonderful! The Irish Civil Registrations are back up. They were not there yesterday when I sent my previous message. Bonnie

    1. [ONTARIO] Immigration
    2. This may be off-list, but thought it helpful for searching for Ontario ancestors. It is from another list and I have no additional knowledge. "Often enough, the numbers listed on a census record by a person's name were U.S. Immigration Manifest Annotations. These numbers indicated that an individual had traveled outside the country and was given a re-entry permit, or they could indicate the date and place where an immigrant applied for naturalization. I refer you to the excellent article and web page by Marian L. Smith, a former employee of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/manifests/ " Marjorie

    2. If you go on the LDS site they filmed the early grants and with the register number you can pick the film it is on and the LDS will bring it in for you. Peggy Large UE "I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead" thanks to Jimmy Buffett!

    1. [ONTARIO] finding crown land grants
    2. It has been a while since I posted before and we have let the frustration subside before asking again. We need help. We will even pay if someone knows how and where to look. We have no clue what to do. We know as fact that John Roe had a Crown Land Grant for Lots 27 and 28 Concession 8 in Alice township in Renfrew County (next to Pembroke) and was on the land and taxed in 1858. We have already seen the land books and know that John proved the land and received a Patent for one lot in 1873 and the other in 1874. I can send anyone who can help a file with the actual page copied. We know as fact that John was on the 1861 census for Alice on this land. He owned this land until 1906. We have tried looking on the archives site for CLG. We have tried what is available in books and on line. What do we do next? We live on the west coast and can't go to the libraries in Ontario and apparently our leaning curve can't figure out what to do. HELP! Bonnie in California

    3. Is this the website you are talking about? http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0 Try this new beta test website which may be taken down at anytine. http://204.9.224.35/recordsearch/start.html They are upgrading their hardware in order to be able to expand their capacity to allowthem to add billions of records in the future. The beta test is now over and they are making the necessary improvements. I do not know Michigan records you said were gone but there are still Mich. Births and Deaths on it. The old website still works but they possibly are making changes. They said to watch weekly for new 'stuff'. Barbara Lewis wrote: > Bonnie, I noticed that they took down my Michigan records too. 2. Gordon Hillman
    3. Margaret Mandeville's tombstone is in the Old Woodhouse Church cemetery in Norfolk County. It shows she died in 1820 but we have a family discussion that she may not have actually been buried there. Does anyone have access to the book "Old Woodhouse Church-The Cradle of Methodism in the Long Point Settlement". It was published in 1999. At the end of the chapter "Ashes to Ashes-Dust to Dust" which provides accounts of funerals and interments, there is a list of names, birthdates, death dates and locations. Margaret Mandeville is mentioned in this list. I would appreciate knowing what information it shows. She was the wife of James Henry Mandeville who I am tracking. Gordon Hillman Sarnia, ON
