Jean in looking at Attestation Papers, Harry signed up in Edmonton, Alberta. I went through automated genealogy site for 1911 Census and did not find Harry Wallace Hamblin, although he could have been missed or not in Canada yet.....unfortunately his address does not show on Attestation Papers, perhaps you should also send query to Alberta Mailing List.....sorry couldn't help further. Hopefully someone else can do better Ellen
Jean, have you read http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/022-909.006-e.html ? You can order a copy of his file with the instructions at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/cef/001042-130-e.html?PHPSESSID =otcu0niei2471c9qob07f021k7#g Mike More [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Henry Connor Sent: May 11, 2010 1:45 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ONTARIO] Hamblin This is my first posting to the list, I am hoping someone can help with my 'mystery man'. We have a copy of my great uncles Attestation Paper when he joined the CEF on the 6/9/1915 in Ontario. Harry Wallace Hamblin DOB 22/10/1887 Newcastle on-Tyne England, he stated he had been in the Northumberland Fusiliers and gave my Grandfather's name as his next of kin but Grandad never mentioned him so we don't have any other information only that we found him aged six in Tynemouth Workhouse North Shields. On the data base he was listed as being with the 31st Canadian Infantry Battalion. On the Attestation Paper there are 2 numbers, 467181 which is crossed out and 101759, these numbers will not take us any further. My Grandad was born in Northumberland UK. Any suggestions that might help would be appreciated, I have a photo of Harry in WW1 uniform. Hi, Still helping someone else and trying to find his parents' marriage. The information is vague: As noted it was sometime before 1940, probably bet 1934-1937, and probably in Toronto. It's somewhat possible the marriage could have been in Windsor, as the family was there before 1940. I'll be visiting Toronto soon (in the city a few days), and wonder where I could go to try to find this marriage. Any help/directions would be appreciated. Thanks, Marsha Stringer (nee MEERE) [email protected] USA www.bittonfamilies.com
Hi, This marriage - may not yet be considered Public Record. The Registraton of Marriage may be obtained by the person you are helping From the Govt of Ontario - Vital Statistics Dept - in Thunder Bay Ontario . Years ago the cost was $27.00 Canadian. They will search - a few years either side of a given date. ONTARIO Office of the Registrar General ServiceOntario Ministry of Government Services 189 Red River Road P.O. Some people would publish a marriage announcement - in the newspapers - others an entry in the social pages of a newspaper - describing the wedding etc. I don't know if the newspapers of the day - would have indexed these events Perhaps a Genealogical Society - for Ontario - may have done so Cheers, Stella At 05:26 AM 11/05/2010, you wrote: >Hi, > >Still helping someone else and trying to find >his parents' marriage. Hi, You can order the Service Records - there is usually much information - perhaps something that can help clear up some of your questions. Well worth the small cost. http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/copies/005010-5021-e.html Have you searched Free BMD? Hi , Have you contacted the U.S.Social Security - You can obtain copies of the information - at one time the cost was aprox $27 - but - perhaps just contacting them with the query - ? they may be able to advise- without charging. Have you posted to message Boards - for Oregon - and Nevada? There may be someone who can search for Obituaries - may give you some answers to your quest. http://resources.rootsweb.ancestry.com/USA/NV/Washoe/ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~obitl/volnv.html?cj=1&o_xid=0001177077&o_lid=0001177077 Cheers,Stella At 04:45 AM 10/05/2010, you wrote: >Can anyone help with this sticky question? > >Joe (Joseph) R. Can anyone help with this sticky question? Joe (Joseph) R. Midmore was born, we think, at Wilcox, Saskatchewan, Canada 25 Sep 1922. He died, according to his Social Security information, on 16 September 1989. The Social Security number was issued in Oregon. There is no place of death listed and he doesn't show in the Oregon death index. In 1978 a Joe R. Midmore lived in Reno, Nevada and may have spent some time in Idaho, but we have nothing definite. That's all we have been able to come up with. Any ideas?
Mary, Cedar Beach is on the shore of Lake Erie on the south side of Essex County, near Kingsville. Thank you Barb, Yes you're exactly right. I had all the info on Richard & Eliza but didnt have the info on Eliza's children by the first marriage. Thank you for that. I just thought if someone could tell me what newspapers where in business at the time of Richards death..there would probably be an obituary. I suppose the [place to contact would be the Historical Society in that area and ask them my question. Richard & Eliza had two sons: John who married Margaret Cowan ( my grandmother's aunt) and Andrew. I'm just not clear on who Henry Switzer was? Thanks for contacting me. I appreciate the info.
