    3. 1851 census in Grenville County, South Gower Twp shows Caroline "VALCOR" at age 6 so born about 1846. 1861 "Adaline Valcore" age 15 in South Gower Twp. I see also that her parents moved to Ottawa for later census. There is a marriage in Carleton County in 1867 that seems to fit. It is indexed on Familysearch labs as VALCOURE. 3. Can anyone help me find the marriage of Israel Nadeau and Caroline Adeline Valcour dit Morin. I believe they married about 1867 in Ontario. Her parents were Augustus Valcour dit Morin and RoseAnne (Basilisse) Tremblay. I don't know who his parents were. I have seen her surname as Valcour, Valcourt, Valliancourt, as well as Morin, Morrow, Moreau - how confusing! I believe Israel Nadeau died 27 Dec 1906 in Rainy River, Ontario. Her death date unknown. They had one child that I know of - Emily Caroline Nadeau, born 09 Jul 1868 in Kemptville, Ontario. Can anyone else add to this family? Thanks. 3. Thanks Jackie, but definately not the same person. She grew up in Stratford and didn't leave there until she was well into her 20's; also the big tip here was eye colour as our friend had brown eyes. But I do thank you for checking that info. Cheers! 1. [ONTARIO] Ontario land grants and petitions at LDS
    2. Lorine has great info on finding these at Ontario Archives but I have a fellow researcher looking for us at Salt Lake City. I don't know enough about them to help her and was hoping some fellow researcher could assist me in how to find them through the LDS microfilm numbers. We have a list of grants and petitions with numbers but can't figure out how to get copies. My friend is from Colorado so she isn't at all familiar with them. The following is from Diane from Colorado and I can't help her. "Here is another set of notes- again, I suppose it is stuff that you already know. Meanwhile, I don't really understand the codes. Things like "C-128" means that I look them up like I did some of the others " Upper Canada Land Petitions "C' Bundle 17, 1831-1832"? But, I can't consistently find these "bundles", in any order and so I am confused. Also, I haven't figured out how to get to petition "M". Further, there are a number of these that do not list Petition codes at all, but only the book codes- I realize that it should be obvious, but I can't figure out what I should be looking at to find these records and are these records with only book codes as valuable as the records with bundle codes? " Any help would be greatly appreciated. Peggy Large UE "I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead" thanks to Jimmy Buffett!

    3. Hi Doreen, I do not know if this would help any but on ancestry there is a border crossing of a 12 yr 7 mo student (April 16 1950) of an Alexandra S Duncan born Toronto, Ontario returning to home at 13865 Edgewater Dr Lakewood Ohio. She was 5'1", fair complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. It appears she moved from Toronto to Ohio perhaps 1945. passage was paid by her mother. 1. Re: [ONTARIO] Newspaper lookup - Stratford, ON - part II
    2. There is another border crossing into Buffalo dated 26 August 1945 for the same person. However, this entry clearly states the given names as Alexandra Scott Duncan born 12 Sept 1937. Parents are Gladys and Alexander D. Duncan (father was living in Rocky River, Ohio). The 1950 record clearly indicates the same person (entry into USA 26 Aug 1945) Gail ________________________________ From: Jackie Serna <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Mon, June 14, 2010 6:42:13 PM Subject: Re: [ONTARIO] Newspaper lookup - Stratford, ON - part II Hi Doreen, I do not know if this would help any but on ancestry there is a border crossing of a 12 yr 7 mo student (April 16 1950) of an Alexandra S Duncan born Toronto, Ontario returning to home at 13865 Edgewater Dr Lakewood Ohio. 3. This is a follow-up to my first posting re lookup for possible birth announcement of 1936 for a Sandra (Alexandra) Duncan in Stratford. The purpose being to find parents names and any siblings or other family. Sandra was a friend of ours, a very private person who divulged little to no info re her estranged family in Stratford. She died alone in her apartment in B.C. at age 75 and was found a week later. My daughter, as emergency contact person, has been having quite a challenge. Apartment had to be paid for another month, fumigators had to be paid for, movers and trash collectors, boxes of paperwork had to be kept to go through to look for any and all info; contacts with Public Trustee, Coroner, RCMP etc. As that wasn't enough, the apartment was broken into (while deceased was there) and a cell phone that my daughter had given Sandra was taken among other things. Two RCMP officers are involved who don't seem to share details. It has been a nightmare! Bottom line: Please, dear listers, make sure somebody knows the whereabouts of your Will and if you live alone that somebody checks on you frequently. Put a note on your fridge door for emergency contact person. Cheers! 3. Doreen, Has anyone put a classified ad in the Stratford papers asking any relatives to come forward? You might get info from a "knowledgeable person" AKA the local gossip, even if the family won't contact you. Does your daughter now have the right to get a copy of her friend's birth certificate? which would eliminate the need for a birth announcement . . . So sad that your friend felt she had to die alone.
