My most-wanted O'NEIL/O'NEILL's - located in Charleston, SC in the mid-1800's, hailing primarily from Newtown Hunt, Thomastown, Kilkenny, or Dublin area, IRE Thomas O'Neill - possibly worked with the railroad, married (at least once) to Mollie REID; fathered at least two children: James Joseph (b. 1845, my ancestor) and daughter, Mollie; died about 1855-60. Rev. Patrick O'Neill - Roman Catholic priest from above Kilkenny location; served St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Charleston from 1838-1860, his death. Other O'Neill's enumerated with him in censuses were Eliza and Anastasia. Walter O'Neill - possibly another priest; also hailed from above Kilkenny location; came to Charleston approximately 1850; died of "bilious fever" in 1859 at age 29. John Francis O'Neill - a grocer in Charleston during the 1860's, married to Mary (?); children Francis, John J., Thomas, Arthur, Emmett, Cecile, Mary. Buried at St. Lawrence Cemetery (Catholic) in Charleston. I am hoping that these 4 are brothers, or at least kinfolk. Any suggestions or connections appreciated. I'm planning a trip to Kilkenny in the spring and hope to find more. Julie O'Neil Perkins [email protected]
