Hello Joan Bega, Jim Eads, and Jill C., This sounds to close to be an accident. I have been chasing a James Oneal who I think had sons John, Jonathan, Samuel, James Jr, and possibly a daughter Hannah. They had lived on Pauls Creek near Goodspur VA in 1810. This territory had been a part of Patrick Co, but was later added to Grayson Co, VA. I have located a Will for a James Oneal and I am trying to determine if it may be James Jr.. mentioned above. Check out the names of James's children (Mary "Polly"). August Sessions 1823 Page 233 In the name of God amen. I James Oneal of the county of Rowan and State of North Carolina being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Creasy Oneal Sixty five and three quarter acres of Land adjoining George Potts, John Graves, Conor and others, during her lifetime or widowhood. I hereby ordain and make Joshua Brinigar and my beloved wife Creasy Oneal sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the twenty first day of January in the year of our Lord, One thousand Eight hundred and Twenty Three. James Oneal Signed Sealed Published and declared by the above named James Oneal to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses to the same. L.A.Foslene, Jeremiah Potts, Hambleson Potts Note, This is the way the original is written: (Printed from microfilm at NC Archives, Raleigh NC) Daughter Polly is mentioned in first list, but not in second. Daughter Mary is mentioned in second list, but not in first. (could Polly and Mary be the same person?) Daughter Nancy is mentioned twice in second list. (Could be an error) Please excuse the long message, but I wanted to maintain the thread.
