Hey Gang! Let's don't jump into this with out doing a little research first. Some of the things I would like to do if such a gathering ever takes place; 1. Just get to know you all, face to face. 2. Share some of our stories and family material. 3. Exchange Ideas on how we are collecting and managing our family histories. 4. Maybe do a little real genealogy research, if that is an option. 5. Just have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A. First off I think we need to poll the list to see if there is a real desire and interest in holding such a gathering. ( this should be done in an organized manner with the submissions being sent to one or two members of the list so as not to clutter up everyone's mail box's.) B. The poll message should be posted to the list at least every day for a week, to give all list members the opportunity to respond to the poll. C. The list member or members receiving the mail concerning the poll, would tabulate and respond to the entire list the outcome numbers of the poll. D. Then I think a small group on this list should decide on a location for the gathering if one is warranted. (I would hope that the list owner would be an automatic member of that organizing group and that nominations (from list members) for that group being submitted to her and that a fair regional representation of the names submitted could be selected for the planning group) E. Then, "Even though we are 'O'Neall's' and have the inherent desire to be stubborn and pig-headed", I would hope we could all agree to accept that organizing groups decision on location and date for said gathering.
