Virginia, Susie, Carl and Trisha (and others O'Neal researchers): I am so excited!!!! I received so many responses so rapidly! You have no idea how wonderful you have all made me feel. I feel as if total strangers have just walked up and handed me the keys to a treasure box. I live in San Antonio, Texas and began my research just over two years ago. The hardest part for me is narrowing my search so that I can focus my attention. I get so excited and want to know everything about everyone of my family! I was adopted and thus never even knew my own parents. In the beginning (2 years ago), I was only armed with my father's name, OTIS B. MOORE, from my original birth certificate (circ. 1950). Today, I can proudly list my own brothers and sisters as well as those of my father. I've met siblings and first cousins (who, by the way are GREAT people) and I've had the honor of placing a stone on my father's grave. Being able to hold and touch his birth certificate has, at last, made him real for me. He was born in Greenwood, Ark and his parents in Booneville (Mary E. POPE) and Paris (Franklin N. MOORE), Arkansas. Search for him was what originally led me to Sebastian County. With our MOORE elders gone, my cousins and I find ourselves hunting old records and surfing the net looking for answers. Great services such as the MOORE-L and ARSCOTT-L groups have made it possible. And now to find O'NEAL-L ........ I truly am blessed! Until now, I hadn't had much luck on my mother's side. While I hope to one day find her grave, learning about her parents and their parents has given me a very warm sense of her presence. I hadn't known how fulfilling genealogy could actually be. You can be certain that I am interested in each and every little thread that I can find!! VIRGINIA: Do you have a copy of Moses' probated will (Johnston County)? Any (AND ALL) information you are willing to share would be cherished! Where did you discover the information on Wiley & William migrating to Bedford County? SUSIE: You are a warehouse of information!!! I would love copies of anything I can get about anyone even remotely connected to the family (Wiley's siblings, etc.). Of <<GREAT>> interest was your collection of data on my 3d g'grandmother Phebe LaRue. I would love to buy a copy of the book you mentioned! Where did you find the information on her and g'pa Wiley moving through Texas to Arkansas? I would be more than willing to focus on researching Texas information in return for you having been so helpful to me. I was pleased to get the names of Phebe's ancestors that you briefly listed. Do you have a copy of Phebe's will? CARL: I copied every word of your input into my family tree files. I was some confused on the O'NEAL - LARUE connections. Am I then double related to the O'Neals? Once through my 3d g'grandpa Wiley O'NEAL and once through my 3d g'grandma Phebe (LARUE) O'NEAL? If she was a O'NEAL descendant herself, it would seem so. I feel like a sponge in search of water!!!! TRISHA: I'm sorry you couldn't immediately find a connection but it does sound as if we might still uncover one. Thanks for responding. VIRGINIA, SUSIE, and CARL: Could I have a copy of each of your family trees? I know how much time and effort each of you must have put into your research and I am willing to do whatever leg work I can do to further our collective research. I use Family Tree and can import any GEDCOM file. Thanks for existing . . . and offering valuable insight to our past. Judy Moore-Waring, [email protected]
