Hello Listers: I am new to this list, having just found out about it through a posting to the CALVERT-L list. My interest is in the O'Neill family (spelling variations found throughout the generations) which emigrated from Ulster to New Abbey, Kirkcudbright, Scotland around 1800. I have considerable information about them which I'd like to share. My 2xgreat-grandfather John ONEILL (1818-1896) was born and married (1841) in New Abbey. His wife was Margaret CALVERT (1822-1899) of Canonbie, Dumfries. Lots more information if anyone is interested. Cheers, Hilary near Toronto, Ontario, Canada
I too am new at this and I have hit a stone wall with my Great Grandfather Richard O'Neal. He was killed by bushwhackers in Ill in 1850's though 1860's . He was born inPolk County . Tenn. When he was killed he and a son Jim were on the way home with the day's receipts. Jim got away. Richard was married to Cynthia McGuire who was born inBradly County Tenn and lived from 1838 to 1903 and had two sons George Born 1860 and John born 1868. That is as far back as I can go with this line. Any help will be appreciated W. H. Hilary! Do you know where in Ulster your O'Neills were? Mine are in the vicinity of Lurgan, Co. Armagh. Can go back to about 1760 with lots of questions. Hope we can connect.
