How unusual, My gg grandfather came to u.s from Ireland and lived in Virginia and was also named John (second name believed to have been Silas) One of his sons John Silas O'Neal (my great grandfather moved to Tennessee about 1829 along with his wife Elizabeth Kendrick O'Neal). They had 16 children one of which was Martin Vanburin O"NeaL (my grandfather), they lived in Polk County Tennessee where my father was born, I.e. John Silor O'Neal III. They also had a son named Richard Madison O'Neal however, he migrated to Texas after serving as a Capt. in Civil War. I have 2700 descendents from the John Silas of Polk County, Tn. Could there be a connection? ---------- >From: "Mary Johnson" <proudvet@net66.com>l >To: ONEALL-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [ONEALL-L] John O'NEIL / O'NEILL / O'NIEL and Margaret CALVERT married 1841 >Date: Tue, Aug 1, 2000, 11:50 PM > > Do you know where in Illinois your O'Neal's were from?
