    2. The snow you described sounds so beautiful. We don't get much snow here in Mississippi. Any chance your O'Neall's and Millers came from Orange Co. NC???

    3. HI ALL I just uploaded my new O'Neal family web site with my O'Neal family. Some of the names may be what people are looking for to make a connection. let me know what you think. I would also like to receive comments via my e-mail on my page as to what would make it better. 2. J. O'Neall
    3. I have just made a major upgrade of my web pages, at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~joneall/ The principal addition is in the "standard" genealogy section, where I've put up family journals for my most important families, all Quaker ones to a great extent, the families O'Neall, Ellis, Kelly and Hutton. Each one is accompanied by a bibliography of sources. To reach these pages directly, go to http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~joneall/ All these files were generated by the genealogy data base program I have found most useful and versatile, The Master Genealogist (or TMG). I have also added a list of links that I have found particularly useful and interesting . Explanations are given of the method for seeking approval from living people before posting them (or leaving them out). I would be happy to exchange any further information on the families posted, as well as to enter into contact with other descendants of these families whom I may not already know. I am also open to correction. ;-) I would like to take one (more) occasion to thank all those who have helped me with this (unfinished) project. Their names are all on the relevant bibliographies. 3. Greetings Brendan: Don't know if this will help, but my grandfather was Harry O'Neill of Ireland. Birthplace unknown, but I know he left County Cork to live in Johnstone, Scotland, as a steel worker. He married one Janet Kennedy on January 1st, 1900, and of their seven children, my father was Peter, and there was a daughter Nancy. Possibly Harry was a brother to your Felix? I know that it was common to keep first names through the families, so maybe my hunch is a clue. Hope you find a link. Merry Christmas. 2. Hi and Happy Holidays....Enjoyed your message very much....nice change for the season ....Having grown up in northern Minnesota I can remember such days as you described....we just bundled up and went out in it....the colder and snowier it got the "braver" we felt! And there was nothing like walking home from the movies after dark with the snow coming down and -30 on the thermometer, which at that point, no longer registered exactly how cold it was! Now I'm down in mid Missouri where, until a day or two ago, we were still going shopping without coats! Did notice the car has some frost on the windshield this morning . . . but I hope Santa has tires instead of runners when he makes his way down here! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. 3. Sure and it is the season for wishing blessings on all the clan. This week-end brought that sentiment home with the onset of our first significant snowfall. Yesterday, Saturday, We awakened to a slight cover of 2 inches of beautiful white fluffy snow. They day was cold but beautiful for a last minute shopping spree. This morning, Sunday, snow was falling a fast clip and has continued most of the day with a lessening mid day. It is now 5:30 in the late afternoon and the snow has begun again with an accumulation of nearly 7 inches in the two days. Forecast calls for more snow and increase in winds so I may be homebound tomorrow if the wind increases in strength. For us in the mid-land prairies of the USA, this is what December is all about and brings a warm glow to the blessed season so soon to be upon us. So with great anticipation I wish you all a blessed Holiday season and an uneventful Y2K, but a prosperous 2000. Hoping you all uncover lost links to family and new family connections to become fast kissin' cousins. 3. Larry, Thank you. I do understand about the computers. Carl, We had a big discussion about this last night. Do you believe that Christ was born in the year 0 or the year 1? I have checked with the local Catholic priest and gained some new insight into this matter. He informs me that our calender has been off since about 600 BC and that the new Millennium actually began about 5 or 6 years ago. So, I guess that we can have it any way that we want. Anne

    3. HI Anne Please let me jump in here and have some fun. Actually, There was no year zero (0). Dating is constructed in this fashion according to the Julian, and Gregorian Calendar or what is also known as the Christian Calendar. Before Jesus was born, there were other forms of Calendars that were used by many different Religions based upon their beliefs system. Some are still in use today. In what is considered common Historical Dating using the Julian, and Gregorian, or Christian calendars. Before Jesus was born it would be called BCE or Before the Common Era when dating. This is sometimes shortened to BC. Inaccurately called Before Christ. After that date the term used is AD which stands for Anno Domino or Latin for in the year of our Lord. Some also inaccurately referred to AD as After Death. Since there were no written records of the time, and much was in oral tradition as was the custom of the day, we do not really know when the birth of Jesus really was. Some say in what would be called 4 BCE which means the Millennium was 4 years ago is also possible. It does not matter as to hard and fast dates since that is not what History is all about, but just to party like it is 1999, and have a nice Holidays and a happy new Millennium Celebration when ever it actually was. :) Greg Anderson >Larry, > Thank you. To minimalise the amount of memory space used programmers of chips and software often did not think of consequences of using only the last two digits to define a date and often did not think that their hard/software would still be in use at the turn of the century. I don't think it has been blown out of proportion and one of my numerous devices has decided it is 2099 already. The extent of the problem has not been understood and much can be gleaned from websites ... if you want the links contact me but do it soon 'cos even the WWW might not work properly for more than a few days. If it continues to work I will be very relieved although there are more important consequences to be concerned about! > > > Does this mean that we may have to go through this Y2K anxiety > > > all over > > >again next year?
