    3. You might check Irish History for this period, just before the "Flight of the Earls" (one of the O'Neill's, Earl of Tyrone, fled to Italy, I believe, to escape the wrath of the British Crown for his part in a rebellion). ----- Original Message ----- From: Steve & Jeanette Hughes <NiallNine@email.msn.com> To: <ONEALL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 20, 2000 6:42 PM Subject: [ONEALL-L] Conn Baccach > Hello List, > > I'm interested in a certain line stemming from Sir Conn O'Neill. 3. Did these O'Neills come from Sligo Ireland? Did you know of any anscestors working on the mo-pacific railroad? There was a John Joseph O'neill which came to the states in 1842. I understand that O'Neill & Killoren (which I have a lot of info. on) were couzins. Please let me know if you think there is a link. I also know that there was a ann or patricia O'Neill that were 2 of my greatgrandfathers (2 out of 12) sisters. It is harder to trace due to so many women & the last names being changed. Also the spelling of O'Neill , O'Neil or O'Neal!. My Uncle told me that O'Neill were kings in Ireland in the 5-7 century. Who knows, but me & my mom are going there in July or Oct. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Perturbo@aol.com> To: <ONEALL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 20, 2000 1:51 PM Subject: Re: [ONEALL-L] Charles O'Neil - Mary Wetzel > HELLO, > THE NAMES OF THE CHILDREN THAT WHERE BORN TO CHARLES O'NEIL AND MARY > WETZEL WERE THE OLDEST ELMA O'NEIL, HAZEL O'NEIL AND JAMES O'NEIL HAZEL WAS > MY GRANDMOTHER SHE WAS BORN ON OCT. 23 1901. 2. Perturbo --- Tell me a little more. My GG Grandfather was John Andrew O'Neil, his father 's name was William. They were supposedly from the Mt. Nebo, Lancaster County, PA area. This would have been in the 1830s through 1850's... What dates are you talking aboout? Where is the "here" that you refer to in your email? Do you also have the names of the three children? More is better. We can compare places, names, dates, etc. and maybe someone will find a similarity and can help you out. Good Luck. Beth Johnson Spanaway

    3. I have a Charles O'Neil married to Hermine Sigmun (Siguoin, Segin, Sickman). Their children were: Hercule (Hurcule) O'Neil married in 1846 Sorel, Quebec, to Zoe Dupre Claire O'Neil born 1837 (some family members say in Sorel, but there is no birth/baptism record for her in Quebec.) She married Zacharie Jacques and they moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 1869. (my great-great grandparents) Marie O'Neil, married to Francois-Xavier Tusignan in Sorel Quebec in 1867. They had at least one daughter Julie Hermine born 1868. At the time of the death of her sister Claire in 1910, Marie was living in Hull, Canada. Sophie - no other info on her Would like to trace Charles to Ireland. Any one have info on this family? Jacquie Scherr

In 1856 he showed up in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He also was a "drawer" in the Scottish coal mines. In 1857, he, his new bride, Agnes Sweeney, and first born, Hugh, moved to Waterside, Ayrshire, where Charles worked as an Ironstone miner (and coal miner also, I think) for the Dalmellington Iron Works. In 1881, the whole crew (Charles, Agnes, and 7 kids) all moved to Clearfield Co., Pa., where the men worked in the Pennsylvania bituminous coal fields. Unfortunately, I don't think my Charles was related to Tim's or Pat's. Charles O'Neill Virginia Beach, VA

    2. Dear Tim, A second cousin and I are slowly workin on our O'Neill branch and this much we know. I'm 73 and my grandfather was charles O'Neill, immigrated from Ireland(maybe Scotland) in 1862 and then returned to Scotland to marry Katherine Dufy, who's first name may have been Mary. They had 13 children, 10 of whom survived to adulthood . We have records of these ten and their descendants. I'm sure Chas. was naturalized in Philadelphia in 1865. Their ist born (who survived) was Peter , who was born in Coalberg, WVA in 1867. I knew him and actually worked for his son, my cousin, during WWII for awhile. There are alot of similarities here so please e-mail me on everything you have. Was your great grandfather Catholic? My e-mail is jptconeill@aol.com. 2. Hi, all. I need a little help here, and I hope that this list covers most of PA. My gr-gr-grandmother Martha O'NEILL is listed as born in PA in 1869, parents Charles and Mary O'Neill, Roman Catholic. Charles, born c. 1840, appears to have come from Canada around 1860. He married Mary (?), born c. 1851, sometime after, probably in 1868, somewhere in PA. They show up in Fayette County PA in the 1880 census. Their first child born in the Fayette County area, according to the Diocese of Greensburg, is Peter, 1877. What I am asking, no begging, for, is someone who might have some idea where in PA he/they were between 1860 and 1877. Charles' occupation is listed as a coal drawer, meaning that he probably worked for a coking operation. Has anyone seen any information about these people anywhere in PA? they are my dead end. Thank you Tim Boyle

    3. Dear List Members, I am leaving for Florida in 2 hours so please do not answer this e-mail. Was told of a new website last night that sounded like it might have been Jill's but was not. They visited the site of the old castle and they learned that the castle is being restored and is off limits to all because of construction danger. While there a fox hunt ensued and these people sneaked in and took photographs before they were caught. The photos are on this site. The person who told me of this did not bother to write down the URL. Found it by looking up O'Neall Genealogy. Thought you might be interested. Anne O'Neal (gone for 10 days)
