To all interested list members. I reported the transfer of the old log cabin built by George and Elizabeth O'Neal near Nealton, Ky. I received the brochure of the B & B this afternoon. The cabin was moved to: 1626 Delaney Ferry Road, Nicholasville, KY 40356. The new owners are Jim and Linda Humphrey. The place is called "The Sandusky House & O'Neal Log Cabin Bed & Breakfast" The brochure reads in part: "If you are looking for a more private getaway, the O'Neal Log Cabin is just for you. We have painstakingly retained the rustic historical character while adding all the modern conveniences. The two-story 1820s cabin was lovingly reconstructed in a secluded grove of shade trees a stone's throw from the Sandusky House. The cabin has two spacious bedrooms, one with two full-size beds. We've even kept a crib handy for parents who visit with their newest family additions. Other amenities include a full kitchen. A huge 8 foot wide fireplace will keep you toasty warm in the winter. In summer, you can relax in air-conditioned comfort or sit in a rocking chair on the porch. For the final touch, unwind in our whirlpool bath tub." "George O'Neal built the log cabin in the 1820's. A Revolutionary War soldier, he served as a sharpshooter and scout in the 12th Regiment of the Virginia Line. In 1994, the Humphreys disassembled the cabin and after several months of reconstruction, the O'Neal Log Cabin was reborn." The Sandusky House is a Greek Revival house built by Jacob Sandusky on a 1000 acres land grant from Patrick Henry, gov. of VA for Rev. War services. I am having a hard time believing that this old cabin is still surviving. My nephew tells me that the interior was deteriorating quite badly. I guess old George would be proud that his handiwork has survived so long. Anne O'Neal
Can you help me at all with the Shaw family??? Thanks in advance... Louise O'Neil Cook
I have been contacted by a new member of our line descended from Merritt O'Neal. He tells me that the old cabin built by George and Elizabeth was dismantled stone by stone and board by board. It was removed and rebuilt in a location 4 miles away on the site of a B & B. It is being rented out for about $110 a night. The person who told me of this is sending a brochure with more details and photographs. Anne O'Neal
I am trying to get their death records. I will let you know as soon as I know 4 sure Donna

I don't know in your case, but this is often true. You probably know that the Four Courts, which housed genealogical records in Dublin, was blown up during the Irish Civil War (in fact, you see the beginning of that event near the end of the movie, "Michael Collins"). I've read that scraps of papers were falling out of the sky Sad. John ------ John O'Neall Genas, France http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~joneall/
When you say you "have a list of members of that family," what do you mean? Have you identified the ancestors of Elbridge B. O'Neal of Waco and Bienville Parish, LA? If so, I'll keep looking at the library or wherever until I can find the information. You are my first indicator that any evidence of him and his ancestors exist. I hope I don't seem too pushy, I'm just very excited that there might be records somewhere. If you could give me just a little more information, I'd be very grateful. sorry I forgot place, They lived and died in New Orleans, La. I not sure if they were born here.
Thank you it was very nicely done. Donna
Thanks to Everyone, But I've been to Alan and Sue's web site. Very nicely done, but they dont have anything on the line I'm looking for. I've also checked into Irish history for information peticular to these people- nothing there either. I have copied Desmond O'Neill's pages relating to the relatives, he does'nt go any farther than Hugh (Aodh) and he does'nt list any sources other than one peticular ms refering to Aodh. I do have a copy of that ms, obtained from Dublin. Little did I know (duh), its hand written in ancient galic in the 1740's. I'm trying to have that translated into something understandable. So, what I'm trying to get is documentation. I've been told that records for that period dont exist. Sorry, I dont believe that. The information is out there, just cant seem to pin it down. the book you are probably refering to is "The Ancient and Royal Family of O'NEILL" by Desmond O'NEILL of Eire (Ireland). Very well written. I am searching my family of O'NEILL's from county Maigh Eo (mayo) and have found family members on it myself. There is also a cd-rom version of the book that is also available. Check out: Desmond O'Neill, One Shore Road, Meath, Co. Louth, Ireland. telephone: 353-42-75346 fax: 353-1-6718470 lamh dhearg abu, sean o'neill, nua eabhrach
You'll find a very complete and well-done genealogy of the O'Neill clans at http://www.cgocable.net/~aoneill/homepg.htm In the left-hand menu, click on "the Royal O'Neill Family". Hello! I have a list of members of that family, but it is lost. I copied it from a site on the internet which isnt any longer accessible, and that came from a book with the genealogies of all the O'Neills, including those in Spain and Portugal, etc. The book itself is very expensive and limited edition and I dont remember the title. I will look for the list I have, as well as the website and title of the book... alpoim
