    2. My O'NEAL family descended from HENDERSON O'NEAL, son ZACK R. O'NEAL born to Henderson and his 2nd wife Nancy Kilner O'Neal, in Arkansas. He married Emma P Bozeman and after some time in GA, AR, LA, moved his family to Madera , Chihuahua, Old Mexico. After he was killed in an accident there in 1910, Emma P moved her family to El Paso, Texas where most of them continued to live. The children of this couple were, EDWIN HENDERSON 1892--1979, IDA CORINNE , RONALD HUIE 1896-1976, DOLLIE BLANCHE 1898-1970, GRACE MADELINE 1901-1901, died as an infant, MADGE BERTHA 1902-1985, ZACK RUPERT 1906-1979. If anyone recognizes these, I have further info available. HENDERSON O'NEAL had two wives, the first was REBECAH HORTON and they had 7 children, JOHN B 1833, FRANCES b 1836, SIDNEY b 1837, THOMAS b 1842, MICHAEL CADGER DEE HAWKINS (long name) born 1846, died 1902. CAROLINE b 1848, SAMUEL b.1852. Please contact me if you are related to any of these. I am particularly interested in the parents of HENDERSON AND NANCY. Emma in NM

    2. Hi Erin....I am also researching O'Neil as my gggrandfather was Hugh O'Neil..born Ireland but lived and died in Scotland....His decendants (some of them) ended up in Buffalo Ny which is where I live......The O'Neil spelling is a little different than most but seems to be the way my family also spelled the name. Did any of your family live in Bflo. Mary Clancy Bflo USA

    3. Dear David, Thank you so very much for the tips! I will definitely keep them in mind if the opportunity ever comes that I can speak with a relative who might have some information. I did find my grandmother's only living sibling, her youngest brother. He lives in NY and I have written him in hopes he can shed some light on all of this. He may recall something of his brother-in-law or even just bits and pieces of where grandma and grandpa lived last. I suppose it's just a matter of time. Thanks again David, your help is greatly appreciated! O'Neil Hi Erin, I'm trying to search back a little with O'Neill in Scotland, but don't think we're the same family. Nevertheless, have you found anyone with an old family Bible you could look at (usually older Bibles had family info written inside). Another really useful "family history" technique I've used when meeting elderly relatives is to set up a video camera nearby, and just record what's said while everyone looks through old family photo albums. Your grandma or great uncle or whoever probably won't be unhappy about this, and the album will jog her/his memory, so you'll find out lots of interesting stuff. Maybe that would twig someone into remembering where your granddad came from? 3. Thanks for the reply Sharon! I'll keep the email and if anything comes up in my search, I'll be sure to let you know! O'Neil Hello! I don't have a William O'Neil, but I am very interested in O'Neil's in the NY area, especially Ogdensburg. The people we are searching for are probably 1-2 generations out, but hey what's a 100 years or so? In this business any link will do! My ggrandfather (John Henry O'Neill) was born in the US (probably NY) in 1863 and brought into Canada as an infant. When he was older and married they lived in Brockville, Ontario and he crossed over into the US by ferry to work. Family says he worked on the Ogdensburg railway line for a while and some others in the southern US. I know he had family in NY, and cousins who performed in Vaudeville. My grandmother did some of her nursing training in NY and her younger sister married and moved to NY. I am looking for LINDBLOM connections there as well. If you do find anything could you please keep me in mind and pass on the info? My ggrandfather may be related to yours somehow too..... Sharon

    1. [ONEALL-L] Question
    2. I was born in Canada and moved to the US at a very young age, 47 years ago. I have not been back to Canada in a long time, so I couldn't check this out myself, sorry. I heard that there is a street in Niagara Falls Ontario named O'Neill. The story is this street was named after my grandfathers brother. Grandfather and his brother had a falling out and did not speak to each other for years. Since my family is all gone, I can't really check up on the validity of any of this and just wondered if anyone on the list knew if there is such a street and what the story is behind it? Oh by the way, to the person who wrote that her middle name was O'Neill, I did the same thing to my son! Thanks

    3. I am looking for any information to establish my grandmother's history. Below is all I know: Her father was called (I think) "Bud" O'Neal. That's all I know about him, except that he probably died prior to 1903. He married (I think) "Josephine ?" She was later married to a Mr. Bean. I had an old letter that said Josephine and Mr. Bean were in Lenapah (Indian Territory) Oklahoma in 1903. I don't know what happened to either of them after that. Bud and Josephine had at least three children (probably more, but the 3 are all I know about). They were: William Franklin O'Neal: Born March 14, 1874 (I think in Arkansas, possibly Siloam Springs/ Springdale area) - his obituary said he had lived there all his life, but I have no documentation - and his parents were not mentioned). He died January 20, 1954 in the same area and is buried in Friendship Cemetery in Springdale. They had 5 children: Thomas O'Neal (died in 2nd WW), Paul O'Neal, Agnes Peggy O'Neal-Mason, Mary Elizabeth O'Neal-Dickey and William Harry O'Neal. Sarah Louise(?) O'Neal-Twichell: Born 1879, died 1903 in Lenapah, Indian Territory, Oklahoma. She married William Eldon Twichell 11/13/1897 in Coffeyville Kansas. They had 4 children: twin infant sons born 1901 and died 1903. Lillian Lucille Twichell-Frye-Brooks born 8/20/1898 in Lenapah - no date of death. Charles Calvin Twichell born 1/17/1903 in Lenapah, died 1/2/1993 in Springfield, Missouri. Unfortunately, I did not know the above families, nor did I know any of the Twichell family mentioned below. Elizabeth Ann O'Neal-Twichell-Carroll: (my grandmother) born January 7, 1884 (possibly in Arkansas). Died October 7, 1947 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She married Ennis Sylvester Twichell (brother to Sarah's husband) in 1898 (I think - but don't know where). Ennis Twichell died in 1903. They had three children: Clara May Twichell, born 12/28/1899; Fredrick William Twichell-Schwettman, born 9/23/1901; Edith Beatrice Twichell-Cravens- Walcott, born 5/20/1903. Fredrick and Edith were adopted out after the death of their father: Fred to Schwettman's and Edith to Cravens. Elizabeth then married Frank E. Carroll about 1907, possibly in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Elizabeth and Frank had 3 children: Inez Albetine Carroll-May, born 10/24/1908 in Fayetteville, Arkansas - died 6/11/1992; Guy Edward Carroll born 4/1910 in Fayetteville - died 3/1958; and Nina Helen (I think was her name) Carroll born 8/1912 and died 1913 - probably in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Frank Carroll left the family after Nina was born and I do not have any information about him. ANY CLUE to information on this family would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!! C. W.
