    3. Hi Cuz: Are you a descendant of Edward by any chance - he lived in BC, I believe. This is terrific. I'll let you know about our distant kin in New Zealand, too after I get your stuff. 1. [ONEALL-L] O'Neals of GA, TN, AR
    2. It has been a while since these were mentioned on this list, so while everyone else is listing their Johns, here is another. My g-g-g-grandfather, Andrew O'Neal, was born in the early 1800's and came to the US in the late 1820's from Dublin Ireland. I suspect the family was from Co. Wicklow. He was supposed to have had a brother named Peter who went to South America and a brother named John who settled in the US. The first record of Andrew is in Rabun Co. GA. From there he went to McMinn Co. TN and finally to Marion Co. TN, where he died and is buried. Could any Johns out there possibly be this one? j-waites@juno.com

    3. Hilary from Ontario wrote about her great-great-grandparents John and Margaret O'Neill from New Abbey. They are also my great-great-grandparents, and I will be contacting Hilary by private email to follow up. Rootsweb is fantastic - I have been into genealogy for a dozen years now, with about 6,300 people in my database, and had discovered (and met) numerous previously unknown family members, most notably a living half-brother who I had always been told had drowned. Many of my tree lines petered out around 1800. I discovered Rootsweb and joined two lists in early April, and already have been discovered by three living relatives from our Orkney family branch. Now I have discovered a living relative from the O'Neill list from Kirkcudbrightshire. This is wonderful. A huge thank you to the people who put Rootsweb together and al the volunteers who maintain the various lists. It has been very fulfilling for me. Had one son I am aware of (being good Irishmen, probably had oodles more) - Charles O'Neil (O'Neill) who left Ulster for Scotland in the (probably) 1850s. Ended up in the Pennsylvania coal fields in Clearfield Co. in 1882. Died in Clearfield Co. in 1894. Any connections out there? Charles O'Neill Virginia

    3. Do you know where in Illinois your O'Neal's were from? I am an O'Neal from Danville, Vermilion Co., IL, my O'Neal's came here in 1820 from Nelson Co., Kentucky. My GGGG-Grandpa was John O'Neal b. 1734 in Ireland, and lived in VA. He fathered 20 children with 3 wives, so we may be related. I have most all the info on direct descendants and I have some on the Aunt's, Uncle's, and cousins but that part is a little more challenging. If anyone can find a connection, I will be glad to share what I have. God Bless, Mary A.
