It has been a while since these were mentioned on this list, so while everyone else is listing their Johns, here is another. My g-g-g-grandfather, Andrew O'Neal, was born in the early 1800's and came to the US in the late 1820's from Dublin Ireland. I suspect the family was from Co. Wicklow. He was supposed to have had a brother named Peter who went to South America and a brother named John who settled in the US. The first record of Andrew is in Rabun Co. GA. From there he went to McMinn Co. TN and finally to Marion Co. TN, where he died and is buried. Could any Johns out there possibly be this one? j-waites@juno.com

My grandfather, Zack R. O'Neal was born in Arkansas. His father was Henderson O'Neal, his mother Nancy Kilner. (May have been a second marriage for Nancy) It was Henderson O'Neal's second marriage. His first marriage was on Jan 2 1830 to Rebecca (Rebecah) Horton. How unusual, My gg grandfather came to u.s from Ireland and lived in Virginia and was also named John (second name believed to have been Silas) One of his sons John Silas O'Neal (my great grandfather moved to Tennessee about 1829 along with his wife Elizabeth Kendrick O'Neal). Hi: My husband's name is Michael O'Neal his dad's name is Walter O'Neal and had a brother Otto O'Neal,not sure what his grandfather's name was?? They were born in Arkansa.Also they have a sister named Mary or Margret O'Neal. She lives in Missouri now. Have to ask my husband. But Either his grandfather or his great grandfather immigrated from Ireland. In fact he just met 2 cousins over the internet named Tim O'Neal and Patrick O'Neal, they just recently visited us. They also live in Missouri. Made my husband so happy!!!!!.. He new he had some cousins on the O'Neal side, but his dad and mom got a divorce way back in the late 40's. Do you know where in Illinois your O'Neal's were from? I am an O'Neal from Danville, Vermilion Co., IL, my O'Neal's came here in 1820 from Nelson Co., Kentucky. My GGGG-Grandpa was John O'Neal b. 1734 in Ireland, and lived in VA. He fathered 20 children with 3 wives, so we may be related. I have most all the info on direct descendants and I have some on the Aunt's, Uncle's, and cousins but that part is a little more challenging.
