I vote for either North Carolina or South Carolina. So far that is where it looks like my O'Neals come from. (Johnston County NC to Barnwell SC) Think it would be a great idea. Lynn Chamberlin [email protected] P. S. Still looking for any one with ties to Silas O'Neal that married Mary Grizzell in Johnston County, N.C. Have just received possible lead that Silas may be the son of William, who was the son of Moses O'Neal.. Would love to find some more leads. LC

Hello to the group. While I have a large O'NEAL group descending from William Allen O'NEAL (LA) in my tree, I also have 3 O'NEALL stragglers that know one in the family knows much about. Here goes: George O'NEALL (the mystery man), was born in Texas and died in Texas (sometime during the late 1950's - early 1960's). He died tragically in a fire. He was married in the late 1940's - early 1950's to Elsie Pearl Oldham, born 20 Sep 1929 in San Antonio, Bexar County, TX, daughter of James Morris Oldham and Mary Elsie D. Acree. They had 2 children, a son, born before 1953, and a daughter, Rae Nell O'Neall, born 10 Nov 1954. Rae Nell O'Neall's married last name is now SCROGGS. Elsie Pearl Oldham O'Neall remarried a gentleman name Harold H. Field, and they raised the children. Rae Nell remembers very little about her birth father. Elsie knew nothing about her in-laws. Rae Nell now has 2 teenage daughters and she would like to share information about their grandfather. Can anyone help? I know that this is not much to go on. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Linda Peckham Scroggs (aka: [email protected])
Carl - Please add my condolences to those already sent on the loss of your Aunt Crystal. She sounds like she was a great lady. It is always hard to see our elders pass on to glory, but we know she is in good hands and at rest. Take care and know that our prayers are with you and yours. >Another little tid-bit. I just received a note from Tim O'Neill. Tim is a >professional musician, plays the piano beautifully, and his CD's and Tapes are >available at most J C Penny Stores. Anyway, I happened to purchase his CD >called "the Meeting of the Waters" He recorded it after a several month visit >to Ireland. I have also heard Tim O'Neill play and discussed the O'Neall heritage with him about 18 months ago at a Minnesota Irish Genealogy Society meeting, I sent him a pile of stuff on the Great O'Neall and etc. We talked about Shane's Castle etc, but it sounds like he comes down another line of O'Nealls than that of Shane's castle. RE: Reunions, sounds like lots of fun to me, because of my job and my limited vacation time, I would love to come if it is within 3 or 4 hundred miles of where I live, which leaves in most of Iowa and lets out North Carolina which I would dearly love to go to. Otherwise I will have to miss it. I have enjoyed all the research stories. I had never heard the name O'Neall in conjunction with my family until I got started researching, once I got to a certain point on my Chapman line, I was also an O'Neall, I was lucky enough to run into Jill at that point and have felt pretty connected since. Hi List Cousins, I cast my vote for Orlando. Bert has contributed so much to us. It would be a shame to shut him out of a reunion. Orlando has a to offer in every way. Anne O'Neal
Carl, Please accept my condolences as well for the death of your Aunt. Cousin Anne O'Neal
How about meeting in Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia? The "Miss" Parkins who married Hugh O'Neal (Jr) was born there, as was her father, Charles Parkins; her mother, Patience Milborn, lived there. That their Quaker marriage was "Decently Consumated" is shown on page 50 of Hopewell Friends History. Hugh O'Neal (Sr) had two estate administrations in Frederick County. The first fizzled because the administrator died and a couple of years later, there was a new administration set up and Annie was named administratrix. Patience Milborn's father was a party to this. This is a part of the O'Neal story that has not been fully investigated. William O'Neal also attended Hopewell, but sometimes his records are shown without the "O." There are good motel accommodations in Winchester. I don't recall much in Newberry, although it has been 10 years since I've been there. Of course, Columbia is nearby, and it doesn't take long to drive to Newberry from Columbia..
how about atlanta, ga
