Clint was born in 1850 in Putnam Co., IN, the second son of James and Permelia O'Neal, my great, great grandparents. His granddad was John O'Neal, born 1780 in VA, son of Bryant O'Neal, born 1750-60, died 1832 Shelby Co., KY. John's wife was Nancy Harris, Bryant's Lavina Lane. I'm trying to connect Bryant to a John O'Neal who died in Essex Co., VA, 1769. 1. Re: [ONEALL-L] Rod O'Neal's Bible
    2. Thanks John, One correction about Bible. The first entry is the Birth of Oliver O'Neal in 1798, not 1784 as I stated, and the entries are not all that many, about 3 1/2 pages. The last entry is the death of Oliver. There were fourteen children total (2 Marriages) and as I recall 11 children births and some deaths are listed. I can dig it out and e-mail entries if you are interested Rod

    3. Rod, Thanks for your reply. You are right about the similarities between our lives. It is kind of like we are living parallel lives. It is amazing to me how large the O'Neil family is today. However, 12 and more children was common a few years back. At that rate a family grows large very quickly. 1. [ONEALL-L] Re: O'Neills of Leinster
    2. I am looking for O'Neills from Leinster, particularly those from the Rathvilly - Clonegal areas. These O'Neills were sometimes called the O'Neills of Moyacomb and some say the O'Neills of the Decies. It is purported that the famous playwright Eugene O'Neill hails from this group. I am looking for O'Neills from Prospect (aka Coolmelagh or Coolmela); those related to Jackie O'Neill who was killed in the aftermath of the 1798 Rebellion, his son Danny Neil, or his grandsons John O'Neill (who emigrated to Queensland, Australia after 1882), Patrick (who died in America in 1896), Myles who died in 1891, Daniel who died in 1896, or Michael (who was born in 1858 and lived in New York City until at least the 1920s). The last mentioned Michael was married to Mary and had at least two children, Mabel and Daniel P., both born in Ireland in the period of 1886 through 1889. Mabel was listed in the 1920 census as an operator, ladies dresses and Daniel as a bookkeeper for an aircraft company. In later City Directories Daniel is listed as living at 16 Arden in the Washington Heights/Inwood section of Manhattan. He was also listed as being an accountant for a jewelry company. Dan J.

    3. Amy, This is fantastic. I was born David Larry O'Neil in Tullahoma, Tennessee. My dad died from pneumonia when I was 3 days old. My mother remarried a childhood sweetheart when I was 8 and we moved to Texas. When I was 10, my stepfather adopted me. That is the reason for the change from O'Neil to Nix. My stepfather is now dead too and so are his parents. However, my mother knows a fair amount about his family. I also have a half brother that lives in the Dallas, Texas area and one that lives in Germany. I can get information on the Nix clan from them too. I have only been working on my family tree for two or three months. So, I am pretty new at this. I did have a good start on the O'Neil clan since my grandfather had written a very good account of our branch of the O'Neil family that traced all the way back to their entry to the USA from Ireland. My e-mail address is: oilman@lx.net Hopefully we can communicate direct and help each other trace our roots. My Stepfather was Otis W. Hooper and the Hooper's have printed a very extensive book on US Hooper's. I have a sister who lives near Bullard, TX, and another in Phoenix, AZ. I too am new at genealogy, but I was fortunate to have the O'Neal Family Bible which starts at 1784 and ends 1884. My gggrandfather was born in NC and moved to Wilson Co TN before 1820. In 1830 the family moved to Missouri. Forgive me for butting in but reading the similarities between your life and mine I had to respond Rod O'Neal
