Another list member directed me to the following web-page at RootsWeb: http://www.rootsweb.com/~rwguide/lesson3.htm This page compares the top twelve genealogical software programs. The ones recommended to me specifically have been the newest versions of FTM (which I have and which is definitely much better than version 4) and Brother's Keeper. Also, the "Personal Ancestral File" (PAF) can be downloaded for free from the famous www.familysearch.com site. I am interested to see what you decide on.
