Since we will be spending a day in the area around Enniskillen to view the area where my husband's mother Martha Virtue originally had her roots, I wonder if there are still Virtues living in the region - perhaps on the original Crown Land Grant (Concession 8, Lots 17 & 18) granted to Robert Virtue and his wife Philina (Morrison) who had come to Enniskillen from Enniskillen in Fermanagh County in N. Ireland. Martha's grandfather was Archibald Virtue (1815 - 1891), he being one of eleven children of Robert and Philina, and he was married to Martha Hillier (1833-1886). Their children were Elizabeth who married John Stainton, Philina who married Dr. Robert A. Lee, William who married Annie Thompson, Edward who married Flora Smith, my mother-in-law's father Robert who married Elizabeth Strong born in Bowmanville in 1856 and John (Jack) Virtue(1866-1921) who married Laura Hamley (1875 - 1950). From looking at maps showing the location of families in Darlington Township, the names of the families the siblings married into appeared to have resided in the township. Just the oldest of Robert Virtue's children was born in Enniskillen; the rest of the children I believe were born in Orillia and then the family moved to Manitoba. I would appreciate any suggestions in regards to possible Virtues still living in the region. Leah Joys Medicine Hat, AB
