Hi, Kathy. I'd appreciate any searches on 'Porteous', except for the 1871 Ontario Census index , which I already have. Please forgive me if I've asked you this before (my 'Porteous' mailbox has 1,498 messages in it, and I haven't done any filing for months)! My Porteous ancestor (gg-grandfather, George PORTEOUS, who married Margaret STEWART) arrived in the Reach Township area sometime in or before 1845. I believe all of his children (William Simpson, Amy Ann, George, Mark, John, Silena Margaret, Robert Sidney) were born in Reach Township, Ontario County. It is possible, however, that some of the children, or the grandchildren moved to Northumberland and/or Durham counties. Thanks. --Doug > -----Original Message----- > From: Kathy Witheridge [mailto:kathpaul@ebtech.net] > Sent: December 18, 2000 10:13 AM > To: ONDURHAM-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: No Contact > > > On 18 Dec 2000, at 8:23, Bob Heard wrote: > > > I have subscribed to your list but have not received any e-mails yet > > Hi Bob; > > This list has been extremely quiet in the last while!
