Good evening list, I am looking for some answers and thought someone on the list may be able to help. I am having a very difficult time in finding the burial information on what I know to be a person by the name of Effie WEBB. She apparently died in the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital at Easter of 1960 or 1961 and was subsequently buried in the Sunderland Cemetary. There is a corner stone in this cemetary that would indicate this. I contacted the cemetary some time ago, requesting her date of death etc., so that I could send for a copy of her death registration. The cemetary informed me then, that no records existed for that period. I contacted the Registrar General giving the information that I had and the search came back as nil. I then contacted the Uxbridge Cottage Hosp (now Lakefield) providing them with her married name, given names, her mother's maiden name, and her date of birth (from her birth registration). They have been unable to locate any person going back 40 years with that name nor that date of birth, that died in that hospital. They are at this time looking further but I am not hopeful. I do thank them for their time and efforts. This leaves me in a real quandary. If she died and was buried under that name, why are there no records in that name? Why can the date of birth not match up with the date of death? My question is this - is there some form of Association or government Organization, that has holdings of all of the cemetary or burial records for the province, submitted by the various municipalities on a yearly or bi yearly basis? and would these be indexed by year or municipality? I require this information and am at a loss where to look next. If she was buried under a false name and birthdate, is that legal? and how can one go about finding out the ifs and why's? Any suggestions would be of great help, Thanks Sharon Parent wsparent@csolve.net
