    3. Dear list members, I am unsubscribing until I find more info on my Jones family in Port Perry. I just realize that I posted this with the Heading Cornelius McMahon so IF there were any Jones distant cousins they would not have read this. I am unsubscribing right away but my e0mail is djsk@home.com I posted this info months ago but maybe there are new list members that connect. Margaret died there in Dec 25 1887. Alonzo W. Jones was her husband and he died in 1903. Arwilda May their only child was born May 13, 1869/70 possibly in Picton. Arwilda was the only Grandma my mother ever knew. (Her other Grandma was from Sweden, and then later the US, but she never met her, unable to travel and died before my mom was able to travel there to see her. Arwilda died on my Mom's birthday and she always felt bad about that. I have an 1868 marriage record, and a very old picture from about 1870 of Alonzo her father, no photo known of her mother or of Arwilda when young. I want to thank everyone that tried to help. Have a good summer, sincerely JoyIrene

Hi Steph; Bowmanville Cemetery is huge! It is sectioned A thru Z and you can purchase all of the sections for a total of $41.90 (this was the price in 1999). If you are a member of the Whitby/Oshawa branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, they will do a search for you for a small fee. As you probably have no idea as to which section your relatives are buried, this might be your best and easiest route. Kind regards Kathy Witheridge Sarnia, Ontario, Canada

Hi Stephanie; I took a look in the Ontario County Marriage Registers 1858-1869 for Perth County, and found the following: Walter MOORE, 22 of Nissouri, born Canada, s/o William and Ann, married May 24, 1869 to Margetta Sheffer, 18 of Nissouri, born York State, d/o Peter and Adelia There are many MOORE marriages in Perth County, but only this one with parents William and Ann. I am researching the MOORE name, but mine originated in Devon, England, then to Darlington Twp., Durham County and finally to Fullarton, Perth County. Hi Stephanie; The Ontario County Marriage Registers for Durham County - 1858-1869, shows: William MOORE, 47 of Cavan, born Ireland, s/o William and Mary, married Dec 12, 1868 to Jane CARPENTER, 32 of Cavan, born England, d/o Christopher and Ann. This would not appear to be yours, but it is coincidental! I then found: Edward R. RYREY, 28 of Manvers, born England, s/o George and Catharine, married Feb 7, 1860 to Jane ARGUE, 22 of Manvers, born Ireland, d/o Robert and Elizabeth The 1871 Ontario Census (heads of households only), for Durham County, shows the following: ARGUE ANDREW 51 IRELAND CE ENGLISH LAB Northumb.W\Cobourg.Twn ARGUE WILLIAM 54 IRELAND CE IRISH FARMER Cartwright ARGUE ALEXANDER 26 ONTARIO CE IRISH FARMER Cartwright ARGUE MARGARET 22 ONTARIO CE IRISH FARMER Cartwright ARGUE JOHN 24 ONTARIO CE FARMER Cartwright ARGUE CHARLES 40 ONTARIO NC IRISH FARMER Cavan ARGUE JOHN 64 IRELAND EM IRISH FARMER Darlington ARGUE GEORGE 33 ONTARIO EM IRISH FARMER Darlington ARGUE GEORGE 38 ONTARIO EM IRISH FARMER Manvers ARGUE ROBERT 70 IRELAND EM IRISH WEAVER Manvers ARGUE THOMAS 54 IRELAND CE IRISH FARMER Manvers ARGUE GEORGE 28 IRELAND CE IRISH FARMER Manvers ARGUE THOMAS 30 IRELAND CE IRISH FARMER Manvers ARGUE GEORGE 73 IRELAND CE FARMER Manvers ARGUE JOHN 38 ONTARIO NC IRISH FARMER Manvers ARGUE ANN 18 ONTARIO NC IRISH Manvers ARGUE HENRY 30 IRELAND CE IRISH FARMER Manvers ARGUE WILLIAM 25 IRELAND CE IRISH FARM LAB Manvers ARGUE IRA 41 ONT ARIOWM IRISH FARMER Mariposa I would imagine that some of the above belong to you! 2. Searching for any Durham/Newcastle connections to JAMESON/GLENN/RONEY surnames. In the early 1840's, Thomas GLENN worked as a shoemaker's apprentice in Cavan. The shoemaker was a Mr. JAMESON, and his son, ALEX JAMESON, married Thomas GLENN'S sister, Mary. ROBERT RONEY and his wife, ELIZABETH, lived in the Newcastle area in the 1840's, and he was a school teacher. All relocated to Perth/Huron Co.s in the late 1840's to mid 1850's. 3. There are a number of Hodgsons in Ontario County and later in Victoria county and Haliburton descendents of Jonathan who settled, I believe , in the Columbus area. See the Atlas, a book called Living Traditions written by the children of Clayton Hodgson of Burt River/ Haliburton and published in the 1980's.
