Did you try going to Edit, then Preferences Check every different category -- there seem to be many, but if one spot that should have a tick mark is blank, this could be your problem. I prefer Netscape Communicator -- "user friendly" - at least to me. I do this periodically, at least every four day, with or without problems. Barb, I've upgraded Family Tree Maker to 7.0 and I think you'll notice a vast improvement from version 4. I really like it. You can see the changes on www.familytree.com - and test it out with 20 names to see how you like it. I do know there is an even newer version out now as well. I have 600 names in one file and 400 in a second and another 150 in a third and there is no problem with memory at all. I hope that helps.
