Hi, I am stumped over a definite birth record for my ancestor Oliver Oliver who was buried at Truro St. Mary's,Cornwall, in 1826, aged 45. He was married in Truro St. Mary's to Sarah (Sally) Matthews on 28 April 1810, lived there and was buried there on 9 April 1826, age 45. This gives him a birth date of around 1781. So far the only possible candidate I have is for Oliver Oliver baptised in Ruan Minor on 2 Apr 1782. This would fit, but is rather far from Truro (though as a young man he might have gone off to the County town for adventure/betterment), and I am reluctant to accept this man as my ancestor without a bit more evidence! I have ruled out an Oliver Oliver baptised in St. Ives, 1788 (too late, and he is married and living in St. Ives in 1841). Also ruled out an Oliver Oliver of St Erth, 1785, for the same reason. Two more - 1795 in Mevagissey and 1797 in St. Blazey are also born far too late. A slight possibility is an Oliver Oliver baptised 1785 in St. Hilary, but again, too late a birth for a burial in 1826 aged 45. I know children are often baptised a while after they are born, but this family has 4 children baptised at regular intervals of about 3 years and there is a child baptised in 1783 so I am sure if Oliver had been born into that family in 1781 he would have been baptised along with his brother in 1783. So, my dilemma. Do I accept the plausible Oliver of Ruan Minor, or does anyone out there have any further Oliver Oliver information that might point to someone else? I would welcome help or comments! Susan.
