Sadly, my family did not seem to believe in heritage preservation as I know very little about my lineage, but here goes. My grandfather was Abel K Harris, and he died in 1950 in Dumas, Texas, and I remember my mother relating some of the names of his siblings to me, i.e., sisters Phoebe, Alabama and Cornelia. One of my grandfather's brothers (Robert Oliver) worked for the L&N Railroad in Selma, Alabama, and lived on Water Street. He could walk out his back door and be on the train in 50 steps. I visited one of his children, a female - I believe it was Mary Thomas, in 1975 at that home. Abel married a woman named Allie B., purportedly half-indian, (last name unknown to me). I do not know if he married her before or after he moved to North East Texas, Delta County, circa 1890, as my uncle John Harris was born, place unknown, circa 1895. My father Willis Henry Harris was born in Pecan Gap, TX August 31, 1905. Another of my uncles, Clyde Crowson Harris, was born after my father, year unknown, and he died at approximately age 20 from appendicitis in I believe Lockney, TX. I had several aunts, but it's been too many years since contact and I don't remember their names. My grandfather moved to Texas from Alabama when he was probably in his twenties; I moved to Alabama from Texas in my twenties and live 50 miles from where he was born. Isn't that ironic? If I can help in any further way, please do not hesitate to write me. Best of luck - Dub Harris. e-mail: poppy3times@hotmail.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
