I have Sketches and it does not list the early census of SC of 1778 which lists for Orangeburg a John Oliver. I know nothing about this Oliver. In the 1790 census there are Thomas (b. 1749) and Peter (b. 1752) who are probably brothers. Thomas married Elizabeth Sistrunk and Peter married Elizabeth Fox. 1800 there are no Olivers in Orangeburg County. Thomas had a son Peter (b. 1787) who would have been underage in 1800 and Thomas is not found after 1790 so he probably died between 1790 and 1800. 1810. There are two Peter Oliver's. Peter, son of Thomas, and the older Peter (probably brother of Thomas). This is the year that Peter, son of Thomas, had son Glenn McCartie Oliver. I have a hunch that the name McCartie links this Oliver line to the York, Dinwiddie and Petersburg, Va Oliver family who had William who married Elizabeth McCartie and his nephew Thomas who married Ann McCarty. Are you from this line? Do you have any males from that line who wouldconsider letting me pay for a 25 marker YDNA test? I have no Oliver matches yet and the Orangeburg line has no one who has been tested. I am trying to verify or eliminate this line as my ancestors.
