Someone, a long time ago, incorrectly attached the surname Barnes to Milly. It appears to have come from the book on pioneers that included an entry on Harrison Oliver. If I recall, the next entry on ANOTHER Oliver had reference to a Barnes, and they mismatched it to Harrison's mother and it spread like wildfire. Our line is through Harrison's YOUNGEST brother, John H. Oliver (born 1820) who was a widower twice. On John's third marriage, the courthouse records were more complete and he provided his parents full names (Samuel Oliver and Milly Pash). I lived near Vermilion County, Illinois for a time and was able to research at the courthouse several times. Since Harrison was born in Virginia I searched for Samuel's marriage there. I found the marriage of Samuel Oliver to Milly Pash on 6 Sep 1798 in Loudoun County (note the spelling as it gets misspelled frequently), Virginia. I went to Loudoun County to research the Pash and Oliver names. From the best that I could determine, Milly was the daughter of John Pash. She had a brother named John Pash Jr. I have a folder of research on the Pashes, but it is in storage for a while, so I can't answer too many questions. I could not get any further back on the Oliver line, but it seems there was a Joseph Oliver that I was interested in as a possible father of Samuel. I have NOT added him as the father YET though as I was not able to confirm it. It was over four years ago that I was in Virginia focusing on this line. But I saw this thread and thought I would add a note. My request for all of you Harrison Oliver descendants is to ask you to help clear up/ clean up the records to delete Milly Barnes/Barns and ADD the name Milly PASH for the wife of Samuel N. F.
