Hi Eileen: Our John Oliver's are not the same people -- although I wish they were as it might help clear up some things for us. Our "John Oliver" was born in 1810 and came to Canada in 1836 from England (this is according to the 1851 Census) and he married "Catherine" (of Irish ancestry). They lived in what is known as "Brown's Mountain" just outside of Canterbury, NB. They had children namely: 1. Elizabeth b. 1842; 2. Fanny b. 1844; 3. Ellen b. 1846; 4. Aaron b. 1849; 5. Fred b. 1850 d. 1934, m. Angeline Dickinson (Fred is my husband's grandfather). We can't seem to be able to go any further with this!!! Have been hoping someone out there would have a connection with some of the above mentioned people. I guess there are many branches of the Olivers that came over here at many different times. Does anything ring a bell with the above info and your Oliver's? My John Oliver was married to Elizabeth Trevethan. They had at least two children, Alice (or Annie) and Elizabeth (Bessie). They lived in Saint John, New Brunswick. The main problem that I have with your info is that I think they came to Canada from England closer to 1860. Please let me know if it sounds like there may be a connection. Thank you. Do wish I could help. I have been searching for my husband's ancestry for some time but keep hitting brick roads. His great grandfather - John Oliver, b. 1810, came to Canada in 1836 but we can't find where he came from and how he ended up in New Brunswick, Canada. Good Luck with finding a good home for your pictures.
