    3. GreyWolf OK, the mother of Dionysius was Ann (or Mary or Mary Ann) McCarty. The sister of Dionysius was named after her mother. I have found her as Mary and as Ann. I have also found Thomas Oliver as Peter and Peter Thomas. There are just too many Peter and Thomas Olivers out there at the same time. I am assuming that Peter Thomas is the ancestor of my family based on the fact that my Thomas Oliver (b. 1749) in Orangeburg SC had a Peter Oliver who had a Glenn McCartie Oliver which points me to Peter/Thomas Oliver who married Mary or Ann or Mary Ann McCarty (also spelled McCartie). Since Dionysius had children who migrated to Edgefield, SC,it is possible that his sister and her husband also migrated to the same area. In the thirty years I have been researching, I have found that related families usually migrated rogether in groups. Maybe one person moved and others followed later. Family was very important then as back-up support. Sometimes they moved to the exact same area, sometimes to an area not too far away. Was the Hancock family in Edgefield County SC living near the Oliver family of Dionysius' descendants? It was Dionysius and his son Peter who served in the Revolutionary War and they are buried in the Stinchcombe Cemetery in Elbert County, Georiga. I believe that Peter Thomas, born around 1700 would have been too old to fight in the Revolutionary War. Dionysius Sr was born in 1735 and he was not the youngest. Look at given names. Several names repeat over and over John, Dionysius, James, McCarty (either first or middle name),Francis, Peter. My research shows that Mary Ann, sister of Dionysius married Isham Thompson. If I find anymore info I will let you know. --- On Wed, 5/13/09, Graylwolfe@aol.com <Graylwolfe@aol.com> wrote: > From: Graylwolfe@aol.com <Graylwolfe@aol.com> > Subject: Re: [OLIVER] Will of Dionysius Oliver of Edgefield Dist., SC filed 2 Oct 1815 > To: oliver@rootsweb.com > Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2009, 12:32 PM > I think the father of Dionysius > Oliver, Sr., was Capt.
