I think the father of Dionysius Oliver, Sr., was Capt. Thomas Oliver. He was a Revolutionary War soldier. Are you sure that the sister of Dionysius Oliver Sr. was named Mary Ann? If so, that is the family for whom I am interested. In my case, there has been no male Oliver since Thomas Oliver. I just want to find out if this family is the correct family. I am going on the fact that my gggrandfather had a brother named Oliver Hancock. My supposition is that John Hancock and Ann Oliver married in Petersburg, VA in the 1760s and soon afterwards moved to SC. They were in Edgefield District, SC before John Hancock and son John Hancock, son Oliver Hancock, and son James Hancock moved to Talbot County, GA in 1830s. Also, the widow of the elder John Hancock's brother Thomas went with them to Talbot County, GA. I had not been able to determine who this Ann Oliver is. If anyone has a clue, please let me know.
