I really have no proof of the things you ask, but I did search out Mary and Green and I've found a couple with the same name with a daughter matching my gg grandmothers age and name.. They have Mary as Mary Ann Oliver born abt. 1840. One person has her date of birth as May 15, 1840 Whitley Ky,and they have her married to Green Monroe on Dec 30, 1857 in Cumberland Ky. Green (possibly James Green Monroe) and Mary lived in Cumberland Ky and in Barren Ky. Their children (the ones I know of): Harrison C., Cynthia Ann, Mary F., John L., Susan E., and Elbert.. Because my parents were divorced when I was very young, I know next to nothing about her. The little information I do know is sketchy, at best. I don't know dates of birth/death for sure, but I got a match on my Tree for 1923 and 1977. The dates seem to work with the little info my mother knows, so they could be correct. Her middle name could also be Lillian. She married my grandfather Paul Gerald Konkel before 1943. I assume they married and lived in Long Island, but I know my father, at least, was born in Manhattan. I also know that after he died in 1964 she did remarry. I've no idea her new married name. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Silas Henry Oliver (possibly just known as Henry} was born in Lanlivery, Cornwall in 1887 to Matthew Oliver and Mary Ann Richards. He is my maternal great grandfather but never married my great grandmother. My Gran was born in 1911. He had several brothers and sisters. Beatrice, Maud and Lottie emigrated to either Canada or the USA at the turn of the century and Lottie married another cornishman, Horace Welsh. Henry ? served in the canadian forces in WW1 but I can find no records. My Gran always believed he was killed n the Somme but I don't think so. I think there could be relatives out there somewhere!!! Would love to solve this mystery. Would be fantastic if someone can help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Sadly, my family did not seem to believe in heritage preservation as I know very little about my lineage, but here goes. My grandfather was Abel K Harris, and he died in 1950 in Dumas, Texas, and I remember my mother relating some of the names of his siblings to me, i.e., sisters Phoebe, Alabama and Cornelia. One of my grandfather's brothers (Robert Oliver) worked for the L&N Railroad in Selma, Alabama, and lived on Water Street. He could walk out his back door and be on the train in 50 steps. I visited one of his children, a female - I believe it was Mary Thomas, in 1975 at that home. Abel married a woman named Allie B., purportedly half-indian, (last name unknown to me). I do not know if he married her before or after he moved to North East Texas, Delta County, circa 1890, as my uncle John Harris was born, place unknown, circa 1895. My father Willis Henry Harris was born in Pecan Gap, TX August 31, 1905. Another of my uncles, Clyde Crowson Harris, was born after my father, year unknown, and he died at approximately age 20 from appendicitis in I believe Lockney, TX. I had several aunts, but it's been too many years since contact and I don't remember their names. My grandfather moved to Texas from Alabama when he was probably in his twenties; I moved to Alabama from Texas in my twenties and live 50 miles from where he was born. Isn't that ironic? If I can help in any further way, please do not hesitate to write me. Best of luck - Dub Harris. e-mail: poppy3times@hotmail.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: WCarah Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.oliver/4676.3.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Before we abandon this thread, lets take another look. The use of the name "Abel K. Harris," is too coincidental to not look a little deeper, expecially since some of Robert Oliver Harris's descendants moved to Selma after the Civil War. While I have not found an Abel K. Harris born around 1880, that does not mean he is not connected--I just may not have all the data. Robert Oliver Harris, b. SC and resident of Radsfordsville, Perry Co., Alabama, had a number of children by two wives. Here is the list: By Lydia Massey-- George C. Harris, b. ca. 1839 Oliver M. Harris, b. ca. 1842 Joseph Phelen Harris, b. 1843 Sarah J. Harris, b. ca. 1849 By Talitha Caroline Richardson (Living in Selma as late as 1910): John O. Harris, b. 1856 Cornelia Harris, b. 1858 Abel K. Harris, b. 1858 (moved to Texas--d. Moore co., TX--1950) Phoebe Harris, b. 1860 Alabama M. Harris, b. 1865 Robert Oliver Harris, b. ca. 1867 Mary Thomas Harris, b. 1869 Josephine Harris, b. ca. 1872 All of these children were born in Alabama--probably Perry county and many ended up in Selma, Dallas Co., where I lose track of them after the 1920 census. Do you have any information you can share on your grandfather Abel K. Harris--parents, birth location, children, spouse, anything I can use to trace the person? He could easily be the son of one of the male children listed above. Regards, Warren Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
