Folks, don't forget gatewayed messages (messages that are posted on the Rootsweb Message Board and sent to the list using "[email protected]) may be posted by someone not on the mailing list (see the note at the bottom of every gateway post) so a reply on the list may not be seen by the original poster. To reply to a gatewayed message, click on the Message Board URL within the message which will take you to board post where you can post a reply. Your reply will also be posted on the list. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Yvonne Oliver Bowers Listmom, Boardmom, Webmom OLIVER, OLLIVER, OLVER, OLIVIER "Most Wanted" http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~yvonne/oliver.html On Nov 28, 2009, at 12:00 AM, [email protected] wrote: > Message: 3 > Date: Fri, 27 Nov 2009 18:08:57 -0500 > From: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [OLIVER] Oliver Y DNA Project > To: [email protected], [email protected] > Message-ID: <[email protected]> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" > > > Could you tell me how my husband (James Oliver) would go about doing the Oliver YDNA project? It certainly does help if I can find out if the OLIVERs who connect with the SPRINGERs who were in Albany NY have tested, and if not find someone. I've been told those OLIVERs were Dutch but I've learned to always double check, and hopefully getting their Y DNA profile would at least give me the answer if they match or not. Since viewing Sheila Schmultz's Oliver Y-DNAs, I found that my ancestor, Wm. Oliver ca 1665 of Elizabeth, NJ is an R1b1b2. That is the Y-DNA of my NJ Olivers who were cousins to the FRAZEES. Hope this helps. Charlotte Groff Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Greetings everyone! I have come across a small dilemna in my research and wanted to see if any others are researching the same line and have resolved this issue or have ideas how to resolve it. I am descended from Noah BARRETT (1852-1911) born in Pillaton, Cornwall, England and Mary Ann OLIVER (1848-1935) born in Saltash, Cornwall, England. This couple was married in Saltash in 1874 and came to Nova Scotia, Canada in 1882 and lived the rest of their lives there. The question that has come up, is the parentage of Mary Ann OLIVER (1848-1935). I have always considered the parents of Mary Ann OLIVER (1848-1935) to be Rupert OLIVER (1807-1884) and Mary Ann WADLING (1827-nd). In the 1871 census of England, Rupert OLIVER (1807-1884) is the head of household, Mary A OLIVER (1827-nd) his wife, and in the household is father-in-law John WADLING. I also found a registration of a birth in 1848 in Saltash in the County of Cornwall, for a Mary Ann, born to Rupert OLIVER and Mary Ann OLIVER, formerly Wadlin (question on the spelling). So, I thought I was pretty well set. There was one date issue that I had not resolved. On all records I had found, Mary Ann OLIVER (1848-1935) was born in 1848. I have an entry of marriage for Rupert OLIVER and Mary Ann WADLING that occurred in 1849, before their daughter was born. It puzzled me, but I had set it aside for other research. Yesterday, I picked up a copy of Mary Ann (OLIVER) BARRETT (1848-1935) death certificate from Nova Scotia. The information on this certificate was provided by her daughter, Maude Mary BIGNEY. The parents of Mary Ann were listed as Rupert OLIVER and Mary Ann STRATTON (maiden name). I do understand that death certificates really aren't a primary source for birth information. But I did find it perplexing, especially considering the date issue with marriage and birth of the first child. Of course, so far, I have been unable to find any records of a marriage between Rupert OLIVER and Mary Ann STRATTON. Or a Mary Ann WADLING/WADLIN and an unknown STRATTON. *sighs* And all I thought I would be doing is confirming information by picking up this death certificate. I would love to get in touch with others researching this line. Perhaps you've already encountered this and have solved it! Thanks for your attention Denise (BARRETT) Petersen Lorne BARRETT (1921-2000) - Margaret RADFORD (1924 - 1995) Sydney BARRETT (1888-1971) - Hazel Merrideth FRENCH (1898-1980) Noah BARRETT (1852-1911) - Mary Ann OLIVER (1848-1935)
