    1. [OLIVER] Theodorick Oliver
    2. Lawrence E. Oliver
    3. I am researching the OLIVER surname. Specifically, I am searching for the relatives of one THEODORICK OLIVER - he is my major brick wall. I do not know any information about his parents or siblings. Theodorick Oliver was also known as: Theodrick Oliver, Theodore Oliver, Theotrie Oliver, and J Oliver (This was on the 1850 Louisiana Census. This initial "J" is an indexer's mistake - careful reading of the census page itself shows that it could also be taken as a "T"). He is listed as being born in 1799 in either Tennessee or Virginia. He is listed in the 1850 US Louisiana Census as being from Virginia and his children list him as being from either Virginia or Tennessee in the 1860, 1870 & 1880 US Census in both Louisiana and Texas. He died between 1852 - 6 January 1854, in (Natchitoches Parish), Louisiana. He first married ELIZABETH (BETSEY) MARTIN on 14 Feb. 1820 in (Dallas County), Alabama. She was born about 1800 - 1810 in Georgia. He had the following known children from this marriage: THOMAS OLIVER (b: abt. 1824 in Alabama), CLAIBORNE MARTIN OLIVER (b: abt. 1829 in Alabama), JAS. OLIVER (b: abt. 1833 in Alabama) and CORNELIA OLIVER (b: abt. 1837 in Alabama). He and his family were listed in the 1830 Census for (Perry County), Alabama - there were also two additional children listed whose names are unknown at this time. BETSEY MARTIN OLIVER apparently died in 1837. THEODORICK OLIVER married MRS. LUCY B. (HOLLOWAY) THOMAS on 18 Jan. 1838 in (Dallas County), Alabama. She was born June 1809 in South Carolina. He had the following known children from this marriage: THEODORICK HARRISON L. OLIVER (b: July 1840 in Alabama), HENRY HOLLOWAY OLIVER (b: 18 Jan. 1843 in Alabama), CHARLES EDWARD OLIVER (b: 14 June 1847 in Alabama), LUCY A. OLIVER (b: May 1850 in Louisiana), and ALBERT BAXTER OLIVER (b: 6 Jan. 1853 in Louisiana). Lucy also brought at least one son from her previous marriage: JOHN W. THOMAS. There may also be additional children, as Lucy stated in the 1900 US Census in Texas that she had 10 children, six of which were living. Living in close proximity, in (Perry County), Alabama, to THEODORICK OLIVER is the family of THOMAS M. OLIVER (b: 31 May 1796 in unknown location) and his wife LUCINDA TUBBS (b: abt. 1788 in South Carolina). THOMAS M. OLIVER was the son of WILLIAM OLIVER (b: abt. 1742 in unknown location). THOMAS M. OLIVER had the following known children: EMILY T. OLIVER (b: abt. 1817 in (Dickson County), Tennessee) and THOMAS A. J. OLIVER (b: 27 Nov. 1825 in Marion, (Perry County), Alabama). All of this family is buried in the Marion Cemetery, Marion, (Perry County), Alabama. There are also several other OLIVER'S buried in this cemetery. One of the others is a MURRELL W. OLIVER (b: 1 July 1815 in (Dickson County), Tennessee). He is probably the oldest child of THOMAS M. OLIVER. Further, there is a THOMAS MURRELL, SR. (b: abt. 1747 in (Goochland County), Virginia; d: 1826 in (Dickson County), Tennessee). His paternal Grandmother was ELIZABETH OLIVER (one source says b: abt. 1715 in (Surry County), Virginia; another source has Elizabeth b: abt 1675). My questions are: (1) Is MURRELL W. OLIVER the child of THOMAS M. OLIVER? (2) Did MURRELL W. OLIVER'S given name come from the MURRELL family due to a familial relationship? (3) What relation is THEODORICK OLIVER to the family of WILLIAM OLIVER/THOMAS M. OLIVER/MURRELL W. OLIVER? Any Information or suggestions would be appreciated. Lawrence E. Oliver - [email protected]

Author: joolivermesplay Surnames: Oliver Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.oliver/4894/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have all been saddened and somewhat shocked by the sudden death of Willis Pat Oliver , he did a lot of research on his line of Olivers and persuaded other male Olivers to have the YDNA test done ,in fact he persuaded me to ask one of my brothers to have it done ,at that time I had 5 brothers , I now have only three, it is very important if you are a direct male descendant of an Oliver man to have this test done, it will help you rule out a lot of people you have been GUESSING about and may lead you to relatives you did not know you had. Women if you are an Oliver by birth , please persuade at least one of your brothers to be tested . I thank you all for your time, Merry Christmas to you all , Jo Oliver Mesplay Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Sheila_Schmutz Surnames: Oliver Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.oliver/4885.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, Thanks for your query regarding which Oliver families are involved in the Pale Blue Group 09. The two participants have shared their lines of descent and these are now shown on: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gaoliver/OliverPaleBlueLines.html. Both have their earliest known ancestor living in Moore Co, NC. Many Oliver families lived in Moore Co, NC from 1790 onwards. Willis Oliver, Sr., born before 1760, was there as early as 1790. Alfred Oliver, was born about 1755, but does not appear until the 1830 census. Others include Willis Oliver, Jr., Richard Oliver, Aaron Oliver, William Oliver, James Oliver, Reuben Oliver., David Oliver, Moses Oliver. Were they all related and if so, how? Participation in the Oliver Y DNA project by descendants of these other men could help determine if they are related, at least. On Pat's page the '09' group consists of an Aaron and a James, with no lineage. I am most interested in this group as my ancestor seems to be an Aaron, b. c1792, NC, and he had a brother James, b. 1795. Do you have any info on the people who tested for this group? Those men who have provided genealogy have it shown as lines of descent to their grandfathers on those pages. I have not yet completed showing the lines of men who do not yet have a match - but are looking for one! :) Please note that some members have their email set to block emails from outside the U.S., or the company hosting their email does and so I am not able to reach all participants. Likewise, not all participants have an email shown on their personal page. Please email me if you want to see your matches.
