    3. Dear Oldham List, Just joining up with you in my search for my husband's family. Here is what we know: Elmer OLDHAM, Samuel OLDHAM, and another brother (name unknown) lived for a time in Miami County Kansas after the Civil War. We do not know where they were born or when. Elmer OLDHAM married Rachael FLEMMING and they had one son, Thomas Cleveland OLDHAM. We think he may have been born Feb. 22, 1885 in Cleveland Oklahoma. When Thomas was around nine years old, his mother died and Elmer showed up at his brother, Samuel's house in Miami County Kansas and asked if he could leave his son with him for awhile. At that time Samuel and Lillian OLDHAM had no children. They took Thomas in. Elmer OLDHAM was a U. S. Marshal in the Indian Territory that covered Oklahoma and Kansas. They never saw him again and presumed he had died. In the early 1950's a woman came to the door and introduced herself as a daughter of Elmer OLDHAM. He had remarried in Oklahoma - to another woman named Rachael and they had one daughter named Rachael Oldham. She married Dude Spalding and they had no children. Samuel OLDHAM in Miami County Kansas raised Elmer's son Thomas and also had three other children: Harold, Birdie, and Hazel OLDHAM. None of the three ever married. There may also have been cousins named Perry and Wendall OLDHAM. Thomas Cleveland OLDHAM married Josephine SMITH in Miami County Kansas. They had Katherine, Kenneth, and Jean OLDHAM. We are hoping to find some more information on this family, especially Elmer OLDHAM and his brothers. Hope to hear from some of you soon. Mary T. Oldham in Louisiana mailto:[email protected]
