Thomas Oldham Chinner was the son of John Chinner and Mary Summers, who married in Alderton, Northants, in 1718. I would like to know how the name Oldham first came into the Chinner family. TOC was a plumber in Bloomsbury. His son (name name) was a draper in Walsall in 1794, and mayor of that town in 1796. Later, he became an ironmonger (!) in Dudley. I have notes of Oldhams of the period in London & Middlesex, Devizes, Sheffield, & the vicinity of Walsall. However, I feel the connection must be through Mary SUMMERS - perhaps through family of her mother or grandmother in Walsall, Dudley or Wolverhampton. I would be extremely grateful for any help. (I live outside England, and don't have access to the IGI records - unless they are on the Web somewhere.) Gordon Barlow
