    1. Nancy OLDHAM

    3. Hello list, You are not alone! My only OLDHAM is Nancy, born 1789 in New Jersey; married Shuah MANN. The family emigrated to Ohio and settled in Franklin Co. (Columbus area) in 1835. Supposedly, Nancy's father was Charles Oldham, who was born and raised in Manchester, England. Charles came to America during the Revolutionary War, and served as Captain. He settled in New Jersey. I have not been able to prove this, however. Shuah and Nancy had 12 children. I do have their names and many of their descendants if anyone is interested. Nancy lived in the New Albany area and was active in the church. Shuah selected the site of the new church at Haven's Corners, Ohio, called Church of Christ in Christian Union. The church has recently been rebuilt and has a very active congregation. Nancy died in 1871 and is buried along with Shuah, across the road from the church. One time I was looking through a Rev. War site and came across a list of men who had been on trial. Don't know if it was a court martial or not. I did find a Charles Oldham, and the result of the trial was that he was fully exonerated. He had told a private to disobey the order of another officer, I believe. I must have been very tired, because I forgot to bookmark the site and can't find it again. Any suggestions? Good luck to all of you looking for your Oldhams! By the way, what's the weather like in Eagle River, Alaska? Carolyn Conkle Anderson Columbus, Ohio [email protected]

    3. I am researching the Oldham family in the Gorton area of Manchester Lancashire and the Reddish area of Stockport Cheshire both England. I will be happy to share what limited information I have at present. The family were all hatters in the late eighteenth and nineteenth century. 3. Hello list, This is my first post to this list. I am hoping someone out there will be able to direct me. My OLDHAMs are Charles and Nancy. From the book, 20th Century History of Delaware County, Ohio, and Representative Citizens: Shuah MANN Sr.'s wife Nancy, was the daughter of Charles OLDHAM, born and raised in Manchester, England. He joined the American Army. His brother Major OLDHAM, fell in battle. Charles was a Captain in the war. He settled in New Jersey, served as constable 9 years, Justice of the Peace 3, Sheriff 3. One researcher said he was twice married and had many descendants. Unfortunately, I have been unable to make any connection with this Oldham. Does this ring any bells with any of you? Shuah and Nancy OLDHAM MANN were my gr grands. Thanks for any help you can provide. Carolyn Conkle Anderson [email protected]

    3. Dear Oldham List, Just joining up with you in my search for my husband's family. Here is what we know: Elmer OLDHAM, Samuel OLDHAM, and another brother (name unknown) lived for a time in Miami County Kansas after the Civil War. We do not know where they were born or when. Elmer OLDHAM married Rachael FLEMMING and they had one son, Thomas Cleveland OLDHAM. We think he may have been born Feb. 22, 1885 in Cleveland Oklahoma. When Thomas was around nine years old, his mother died and Elmer showed up at his brother, Samuel's house in Miami County Kansas and asked if he could leave his son with him for awhile. At that time Samuel and Lillian OLDHAM had no children. They took Thomas in. Elmer OLDHAM was a U. S. Marshal in the Indian Territory that covered Oklahoma and Kansas. They never saw him again and presumed he had died. In the early 1950's a woman came to the door and introduced herself as a daughter of Elmer OLDHAM. He had remarried in Oklahoma - to another woman named Rachael and they had one daughter named Rachael Oldham. She married Dude Spalding and they had no children. Samuel OLDHAM in Miami County Kansas raised Elmer's son Thomas and also had three other children: Harold, Birdie, and Hazel OLDHAM. None of the three ever married. There may also have been cousins named Perry and Wendall OLDHAM. Thomas Cleveland OLDHAM married Josephine SMITH in Miami County Kansas. They had Katherine, Kenneth, and Jean OLDHAM. We are hoping to find some more information on this family, especially Elmer OLDHAM and his brothers. Hope to hear from some of you soon. Mary T. Oldham in Louisiana mailto:[email protected]
