    1. [OLDHAM] Matty (Mattie?) OLDHAM
    2. Steve Crouch
    3. Hi Oldham Seekers, My wife's gggg grandmother was Matty (or Mattie?) Oldham. Matty was born in 1749 in Mickle Hurst, Lancashire, England. Matty married John Kenworthy. John was born on March 31, 1741 in Hurst, Lancashire, England. (Is Hurst the same as Mickle Hurst?) John and Matty's 13 children were all born between 1764 and 1785 in Hurst in Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire, England. (Are Hurst, Mickle Hurst and Hurst in Ashton under Lyne all one-in-the-same?) John's parents were James Kenworthy and Alice Lees. They were married March 16, 1739/40 in Blackley, Yorkshire, England. If anyone has some information concerning Matty's parents and siblings, we would be extremely happy to learn more about them. Sincerely, Steve Crouch Eagle River, Alaska The following is some information from our files: Descendants of James KENWORTHY Generation No. 1 1. JAMES1 KENWORTHY was born Unknown, and died Unknown. He married ALICE LEES March 16, 1739/40 in Blackley, Yorkshire, England - See Notes. She was born Unknown, and died Unknown. More About JAMES KENWORTHY: Burial: Motram Occupation: Cloth Maker Residence: Hurst Notes for ALICE LEES: Marriage Notes for JAMES KENWORTHY and ALICE LEES: Reason for double date for marriage: Double Dates Family Tree Maker can display double dates to account for the crossover between the Julian and Gregorian calendars. If you enter a date that falls between January 1 and March 25 for any year before 1753, a double date will appear. Double dates work as follows: you can type either Jan 1, 1493/4 or Jan 1, 1493/1494; both display as January 1, 1493/94. If you don't type in both of the years, Family Tree Maker interprets the year you typed as the second year. For example, if you type January 1, 1494, it's displayed as January 1, 1493/94. Children of JAMES KENWORTHY and ALICE LEES are: 2. i. JOHN2 KENWORTHY, b. March 31, 1741, Hurst, Lancashire, England; d. April 16, 1803. ii. ELIZABETH KENWORTHY, b. Unknown; d. Unknown. More About ELIZABETH KENWORTHY: Christening: January 02, 1757, Ashton - under -Lyne Generation No. 2 2. JOHN2 KENWORTHY (JAMES1) was born March 31, 1741 in Hurst, Lancashire, England, and died April 16, 1803. He married MATTY OLDHAM. She was born 1749 in Mickle Hurst, Lancashire, England, and died July 16, 1785. More About JOHN KENWORTHY: Baptism: March 31, 1741, Ashton under Lyne, England (Could have been 1942) Christening: March 31, 1742, Ashton under Lyne, Saint Michael, Lancashire, England Notes for MATTY OLDHAM: Could Matty be another version of Martha? 3. One and all, Saw my post and thought ...duh... tell them where you are in America, and where you are looking here. My ancestors came from Lancashire England to Darke and Miami Counties in Ohio. One brother stayed in Darke Co., OH near Painter's Creek somewhere between Greenville and Arcanum. His name was Samuel and he had two wives and a lot of children. My ancestor, John C. , his brother, came to Concord Twp., near Troy. Ohio, married a Blackmore girl (as did his brother), had several children and then settled in Troy itself. Anyone looking in this area of Ohio can email me. I have quite a bit of info on Samuel's family and some on my own. I know nothing of the brother and sister of John's father Standley, however - so there are cousins out there just waiting to be discovered! > Sounding off - > > >> 1. He worked for Henry VIII and was quite influential at the time. The tomb is elaborate and beautiful. I will send the photos to anyone interested. I also have information on this OLDHAM line back into the 1400's thanks to David OLDHAM, a lovely man who has helped me much.
