    1. [OLDHAM] "Richard William" > Moses > George
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Vm3.2ACEB/430.4 Message Board Post: My g3-grandmother was Henrietta "Ritter" OLDHAM, of Montgomery/Stewart Counties, TN. She was born October 14, 1795 or 1796 in Caswell County, NC. She married George Simms ELLIOTT, abt 1815. She died January 2, 1882, in Weakley County, TN, and her name by then was Henrietta JOHNSON. I am not sure the name of this second husband. She was the daughter of George OLDHAM and Charlotte (various spellings) __?__. George was the son of Moses OLDHAM, Sr., and Mary "Molly" RICE. Contrary to some postings, this George was probably not the one who married Henrietta STACEY in 1807 in Caswell County, NC. That would likely be George, Jr. (1781-abt 1850?), son of George, Sr., and Susannah HENSLEY, and a cousin of my George. Moses OLDHAM (abt 1750 - 1810) is said to be the son of a William OLDHAM, but this seems to be the guy that most are now calling Richard William, married to Elizabeth BAYSYE. Who are the parents of this R.W.? Some have him as the son of another Richard. However, a cousin of mine shows him as son of Col. Samuel OLDHAM, of Westmoreland County, VA. Does anyone have any information to support this? In any case, since the name Conway was used in several generations, this line would seem to descend from the OLDHAM who married Ann CONWAY? However, that is most likely a John OLDHAM, born 1705, an age peer of Richard William and possibly a brother. Can anyone straighten all this out for us?

    3. My oldham ancestry is from a Thomas Oldham age56 born in Penn. & wife Elizabeth ? 52 born in Ky was in the 1850 census for Rush Co. IN District No. 97 listing children: Thomas26, Oliver21 Asbury & Sarah E ( twins)19, Jackson16, Susanna 15& Carolina10 Sarah Elizabeth was my great-great grandmother . She married John Graham son of Hezekiah Graham and Sara Ann Smithwho lived abt. 4 houses down in the same census both born in Penn. Sarah E. also had twins sons and John Breckenridge Graham was my lineage. The 1840 census list Thomas Oldham as a family of 12 so some has married by 1850 most likely. Is there any one out their working on this line of Oldhams. Ruth Ann Kunce >

    2. there was a Sarah Ann Wirt who married a John T Bayard or similar spelling in Maryland in l82_?. Age is barely right to be a second marriage to Oldham but I dont give it much. This info came from CD 208 of Broderbund and is undocumented although it is a quote of some records and a reprint with search capability. There are huge numbers of oldhams going back forever. All of mine are pre l800. Charles Severs

    2. Hi again, My GGGGrandfather was Jesse Oldham Jr, he was born in Caswell County, North Carolina in 1777, he married a woman by the name of Maria Duncan. Jesse died in 1845 in Estill Springs, Franklin County, TN. I don't know what year they migrated into TN, but spread out from there to MO, AR. I haven't made any connection at all with anyone in Mississippi on our side. I also have not come up with a black Oldham, could be out there, just haven't found it on my ancestry line. I have gone back to 1557. I know that one Moses Oldham, not mine, had slaves, sold out and went to Texas. My Moses Oldham died in TN somewhere between 1850 and 1860. They both were on the 1850 census but only the other Moses on the 1860 census so I assume mine died somewhere inbetween there. Jesse's children were: Moses, Henry, Joel, Eliazbeth Ann, Robert (twin), Tyree, William, Mary Ann, Tyree, Sarah (Sally), Richard (Money Ready), Anna, Francis (Frankie) Elias, Amy, Eda (Edith), John Kincheloe, Nathaniel, his parents were Jesee Oldham Sr. and Elizabeth Simpson. His siblings were, Jesse, George, Moses, Richard, Female Oldham, James, Judith, John, Elizabeth. Thanks for the info on the man in N.Carolina, will write to him and see if he knows anyone on my line of the Oldham's. Thanks, Shelia Oldham Wilburn
