    3. Since these dueling fellows were in the Royal Marines, I assume they were either from Britain or from Canada. The time period you give is well after the Revolutionary War. Oldham is a rather common name in and around Leicestershire, England. In fact, while snooping around in their County Record Office a few years ago, I looked in the card file, and, lo and behold, there was a card on a Richard Oldham--but not one of my numerous Richard Oldhams, originally of Northern Neck Virginia, but wandering off to Orange Co. NC before the Revolution and from there, some of them to Madison Co., KY ca 1775 and later. E.W.Wallace

He also owned a farm near Union Church and was married to Christiana McDaniel. Christiana died in 1882 and is buried with two of her young daughters at Union of Mulikin Cemetary. Silas married his second wife, Nancy Gillaspy, in 1864.

The information that I have is that John McLean Oldham married Vina Edna Hood on Jun. 12, 1901 in Duluth, Minnisota. Vina was the daughter of David Park Hood (b. Dalhousie Twp, Lanark Co, Ontario) and Janet McIntosh (perhaps born in Simcoe Co, Ontario). Eventually they moved to Valparaiso, Porter Co, Indiana. John died Feb. 10, 1945 and Vina Edna died Dec. 22, 1932. Both are buried at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. I am actually tracing the Hood line, and am trying to find out what happened to this part of the line.
