    3. An article appeared in last week's *Hampshire Review* (26 Jan 2005), Hampshire County WV's weekly newspaper, about a database being developed by the WV Division of Culture and History. The database will initially contain images of birth, marriage and death certificates from Harrison, Mineral, Pendleton, Hardy, Calhoun and Gilmer Counties. (Hardy and Mineral Counties were both once part of Hampshire County, which was part of Frederick County VA originally). This phase of the project is expected to be finished within a few months, and the division hopes to add other counties' records later. Marriage and death records will be restricted for privacy reasons to 1970 and prior, and birth records will be available only through 1930. The database will be installed on the agency's web site: www.wvculture.org. Deputy Commissioner Ginny Painter said that she estimates that 2/3's of the visitors to the state archives are conducting genealogical research. - Nancy Upshaw
