    2. Wilmer, You were perfectly clear. Apparently, I was not. My apologizes; however, I see no reason NOT tell people, per request, if their surname is in the index. I know you have RITTER/RUTTERs in your family and could easily say yes or no to this question. No one expects you to DUMB all the surnames, only to respond to their particular request. I would think this would help to sell books which is what your intention is, I assume, by taking the time to post to ALL the lists the price and address where we could order the book. I, for one, would love to get my check in the mail immediately; however, I would like to know if RITTER/RUTTER is in the index of surnames. A simple yes or no is all that is needed. These lists are to share and that is all I was inquiring about-----------NOT dumping the whole index at one time on the site. Again, accept my apologizes if I have offended you, but this is the purpose of the list. Best regards, Chocy

    3. Dear Chocy, To respond to your message: (1) I am not a descendant of RITTER/RUTTER. (2) I do not yet have a final copy of the index for the Hampshire County book. If I did, I would not volunteer to do lookups, as there are better uses for my time. (3) The announcement was made as a favor to inform members of the list; not for my gain (if you read the announcement, you saw my disclosure at the bottom). (4) No one has said officially that the index will be posted on a website; I was just giving my opinion that I would work toward that end. I promised that, if and when that happened, I would take time to inform the List of the URL. I'm trying to be accommodating, but there are limits as to what I can accomplish. Again, it is not a Kerns New Book, but an official publication of the Hampshire County 250th Anniversary Committee. Please re-read the announcement. This is my last response on this subject.
