Hello, I am seeking the ancestors and orogin of George Peter BARR, who according to Cartmell's History, appears in Frederick County in 1766, having removed from Louden County. In 1770, he settled on land adjoining Major Maxwell's grant. I am also interested in the other children he may have had, since I am decended from his third son Robert B. BARR who m. Arimenta AVERY. Their children were: James, John Hugh, (my ancestor), m. Elizabeth ARNOLD, Robert, William, Cornelius B., Ann, and Elizabeth. John Hugh's son Hugh, was my Great Grandfather. He m. Martha SAMPSELL and settled in Hardy Co. W.V.. Family lore has it that the progenitor of the BARR'S in the Winchester area came from Scotland.
