Looking for info. on Elizabeth MESMER/MESSER who married John HODGSON. John was b. 4 Aug 1804 and d. 14 Feb 1884 at Winchester. Was Elizabeth connected to family of Jacob MESMER, War of 1812 veteran? Jacob's widow, Ann SMITH MESMER applied for his pension. Jacob's sons were John, Jacob and Peter. John was the "one-armed Confederate Chief of Police for years". Jacob's log home was located where the Handley Library now sits according to Cartmel's History. Would like to hear from anyone connected with MESMER/MESSER in Frederick County.
