I don't know enough about the traditions of 1850 to know whether one involved marrying on the bridge, but I have children who live in Jefferson Co. and visit there frequesntly. Charles Town is just a few miles so a couple would not have traveled far to marry at Harper's Ferry. The bridge at Harper's Ferry is one of the most beautiful locations you might want to visit, with the Potomac and the Shenandoah Rivers meeting at Harpers Ferry. Both rivers are breathtaking and I can see why a couple would select this particular spot to marry. //Lotus Cirilo Executive Director for the TISD Foundation //Postal: PO Box 2035 Tyler, Texas 75710-2035 //Phone: 903-531-3543 Fax: 903-531-3604 //HTTP: www.butterfly.net/lotus //E-mail: lotus@butterfly.net
