Greetings, New to the list and my research has led me to 1760 Augusta Co., Virginia when my earliest know anscester Henry LONG obtaind land between Peaked Mountain and Shenandoah River. Henry LONG married Catherine PENCE. Their daughter Caherine LONG was baptised at the Peaked Mountain (Reformed, Lutheran) Church. Records of Henry and Catherine selling their property (adjacent Peter Miller) to Augustise Price and Jacob Arkenbright can be found in Chaukley's and they then removed to Mecklenburg, Co., North Carolina by 1766-68. I have exhausted the online Chaukley Chronicals and have found a it possible that Henry is a brother of Paul LUNG. Paul was the eldest and heir of Philip LUNG. From my little bit of research of this area, a Philip and Paul LONG (Lung) were amoung some of the early settlers arriving around 1733 from Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania with an agent named Jacob Stover who recieved 10,000 acres from King George II and Lord Fairfax. Is this Jacob Stover related to the Rev. John Casper Stoever who performed early Lutheran marriages and babptisms in southern Pensylvania (Lancaster County) and who perfmed the baptisms of some of my related Pence family members? I am searching for reseachers who may have information relevant to my search, suggested readings and what not. Two books curently on my list are "Pioneers of Old Frederick County, Virginia" by Cecil O'Dell and "The German element of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia" by John W. Wayland. If anyone knows of other publications with information on possible LONG family conections, I'm open to suggestion. Can anyone give more details of this record in Chaukley's: Court Judgment, MARCH, 1768 (D). Crocket vs. Long.-- Bond by Henry Long of Mechlenburg County, North Carolina, dated 15th August, 1766. - Source: CHALKLEY'S CHRONICLES; Vol 1, pg. 354 Thank You, Dave Long Memphis, TN
