The location in my db may be wrong for the marriage (see text below). The couple WAS in South Carolina later but I'll bet this is the right Enoch and the marriage was actually in Frederick Co., VA. I've changed my records. The identity of this Enoch is a little problematical; I'll give you what I have. I have two Enochs Jr who might apply. They were both grandsons of the brothers Edward & Thomas (see end of text below). Both brothers named sons Enoch and both of these 1st cousins married SMITH girls. In the next generation, each cousin Enoch had a son Enoch Jr. The Enoch Jr who married Tabitha JACOCKS is supposedly the son of Enoch PEARSON (1683-1758) & Margaret SMITH (1692-1758; d/o William). This Enoch was the s/o Edward PEARSON (1651-1697) & Sarah BURGES/BURGIS. "Tabitha Jacocks was probably born in Monmouth County, new Jersey about the year 1730. It appears from the few available records that Jonathan Jacocks and his brother David left the home of their father Thomas in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, and bought plantations near Winchester, Virginia, probably in the 1730's. This author has secured copies of the will of David, probated December 9, 1746, and the will of Jonathan, probated May 11, 1747. Both documents are recorded in Frederick County, Virginia, Will Book I, 1743 to 1751. Tabitha was one of the main beneficiaries from each of these estates. Jonathan's estate was valued at approximately 200 lbs. and David's at more than 500 lbs. In terms of today's currency the two estates would exceed $75,000. The record of wills in Monmouth County, New Jersey, for the 1730's reveal that the wealthy Stout family made their cousins Thomas and Jonathan Jacocks legatees in their estate. Further research should be conducted on the Stout and Jacocks families. They were of French and English origin, but not Quakers, and were evidently merchants and shippers." --from A GENEALOGY OF SOME OF THE DESCENDANTS OF THOMAS AND EDWARD PEARSON OF COUNTY CHESTER, ENGLAND, AND PENNSYLAVANIA by Eugene L. Pearson December 29, 1961 >Benjamin Fry >Henry Fry I have information somewhere on Benjamin FRY. If you never hear from anyone, ask me again. My source is away on a research trip in PA and I can't recall where the file went he sent before. This Benjamin and Henry were probably brothers and sons of an older Benjamin. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Wally Garchow, Sacramento, CA wally@calweb.com listowner: CCHelper-L@rootsweb.com http://www.rootsweb.com/~cchelper listowner: PITSENBARGER-L@rootsweb.com http://www.calweb.com/~wally/darke/w-pits1.htm Web pages indexed at: http://www.calweb.com/~wally/index.html Geographic Interests: Darke, OH; Huntingdon, PA; Baltimore, MD Surname Interests: COUPLAND, FRY, GARCHOW, GOSHORN, PEARSON, PITSENBARGER, MENDENHALL, SLADE, YORK
